In 1672 a land patent for tract N123 for 350 acres was granted to Elizabeth and Paul Marsh, Mary and Richard Hinman, and Elianor and George Trewett, 300 acres of it having been sold by Waddiowe to Phillip Meredith and the balance being excess found within the bounds. (NOTE: These were the 3 daughters of Phillip & Ellinor Meredith.).¹ He married Mary Avery, daughter of John Avery and Sarah (-----), circa 1685.² He married Elizabeth Gray, daughter of James Gray and Katherine Yeardley (Yeardley?), circa 1686.³ Richard made a will on 24 July 1721 at Guilford Creek, Accomack Co, VA.      In his will, written 8 May 1684, John MacComb named a wife Elizabeth; a son James; and daughters Esther and Elizabeth. Wife was a residual legatee and Executrix. On 5 Nov 1718, James "Mackcome's" estate was administered to his mother, Elizabeth Hinman (Acc Co Orders, 1717-19, p. 25?). James was born circa 1680. It was in this year that Peter Watkinson bought 550 acres of tract A40 between Painter & Keller from Col. John Stringer. Peter died in 1688 and left it to his son Cornelius and in 1708 Joseph Ames deeded 275 acres to "my loveing friend and cozen Cornelius Wadkinson."² Peter made a will in 1687 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that Cornelius "Wadkinson" along with Arthur Layler and Floryana Littlehouse witnessed the will of John Watson.² He married Abigail (-----) circa 1710.³ Cornelius Watkinson sold land in 1713 at Accomack Co, VA. It was in this year that Cornelius Watkinson and his wife Abigail sold 250 acres of tract A40 between Painter and Keller, which he had inherited from his father Peter Watkinson, to Burnel Niblett.³ He bought land in 1719 at Accomack Co, VA. It was in this year that Cornelius Watkinson bought 200 aces of tract A11 west of Painter from James Gray.      Grace was born circa 1750 at Accomack Co, VA. She married Argol Hinman, son of Bayly Hinman and Sarah (-----), circa 1775.¹ Grace was named in her husband's will on 29 September 1804 at Accomack Co, VA. She was shown as a wife Grace in the will of Argil Hinman.²

     Ralph was born circa 1760 at Accomack Co, VA. He served in the Revolutionary War between 1775 and 1783 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as Ralph Hinman, a soldier in the Army.⁴ Ralph was named in his grandfather's will on 15 January 1788 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as a grandson Ralph Hinman in the will of Bayly Hinman, wife Sarah.² Ralph was named in his uncle's will on 29 September 1804 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as nephew Ralph Hinman, son of my brother William Hinman dec'd, in the will of Argil Hinman, wife Grace.⁵ He died before 23 February 1835 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that Ralph Hinman, soldier in the Rev. War, had died leaving Elizabeth, Fanny and Argyle Bloxom who were half brothers and sisters to the said Ralph Hinman and only heirs at law of Ralph Hinman, and Elizabeth married Edward Bowdoin leaving Nancy Bowdoin, wife of David Mears, and she also left a son named James Bloxom who left 2 children: George & Elizabeth Bloxom, only heirs of James Bloxom, dec'd, and Fanny married Jacob White and is now dead leaving 1 child Lucertia who is now living and only heir of Fanny, and Argyle Bloxom is dead leaving Richard, Fanny and Sarah Bloxom who are still living and only heirs of Arglye Bloxom.³

     On 5 Oct 1750, Moses Hinman along with John Watson and Ezekiel Ross witnessed the will of Nathaniel Howard (Acc Co Wills, 1749-52, p. 205). On 20 Mar 1775, Moses Hinman and Nehemiah Stockley were named executors of John Hinman's will. Moses and Samuel Warren were also witnesses (Acc Co Wills, 1772-77, p. 343). On 19 Feb 1789, Moses Hinman along with William Hinman, son of Moses, and John Rigges witnessed the will of Richard Bundick (Acc Co Wills, 1788-94, p. 306). On 1 Apr 1794, John Hinman's estate was administered to Moses Hinman, with John Burton and John Moore securities (Acc Co Orders, 1793-96, p. 163). On 29 Dec 1794, Moses Hinman's estate was administered to Scarburgh Hinmam, with Joachim Milburn and Major Hinman securities (Acc Co Orders, 1793-96, p. 266). Moses was born circa 1720 at Accomack Co, VA. He married Scarburgh (-----) circa 1750. Moses was living on 5 October 1750 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ Moses died in 1794 at Accomack Co, VA.²

     William was born circa 1760 at Accomack Co, VA. William was living on 19 February 1789 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ He married Tabitha Bundick, daughter of Abbott Bundick and Keziah Bell, on 3 November 1796 at Accomack Co, VA.²

     Scarburgh was born circa 1730. She married Moses Hinman circa 1750. As of circa 1750,her married name was Hinman. Scarburgh was living on 29 December 1794 at Accomack Co, VA.¹

     John was born circa 1705 at Accomack Co, VA. John was named in his grandmother's will on 22 September 1722 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as grandson John Maccome in the will of Elizabeth Hinman, widow of Richard Hinman.² He made a will on 26 March 1738 at Accomack Co, VA. John Maccomb named a sister Naomi Rigs, wife of Joseph Rigs, and their son Abraham. He also named, but no relationship was given, Mary Hinman "meaning the widow," Sarah Hinman, Mary Hinman, Bayly Hinman, son of Bal: Hinman deceased. To Abraham Rigs the plantation where I now live and the balance of estate to my sister. Executor was Joseph Rigs. Witnesses were James Tolman, John Gilchrist and Southy Rew (Acc Co Wills, 1737-43, p. 139)..³ John died on 26 March 1739.⁴ John's will was probated on 27 March 1739 at Accomack Co, VA.⁴

     Naomi was born circa 1708 at Accomack Co, VA. Naomi was named in her grandmother's will on 22 September 1722 at Accomack Co, VA. She was shown as granddaughter Naomi Maccome in the will of Elizabeth Hinman, widow of Richard Hinman.² She married Joseph Riggs, son of Abraham Riggs I and Rosanna Byrd ?, before 1730.^3,1

     Joseph was born circa 1710 at Accomack Co, VA. He married Naomi Macomb, daughter of James Macomb, before 1730.^2,3 Joseph was living on 26 March 1738 at Accomack Co, VA.⁴ He married Sarah (-----) circa 1745.      Mary Frances Carey Notes: inherited no land from father, but land from uncle John MaComb in 1739; heir at law of father; William heir at law; son Abraham, daughters Esther & Leah, married 1792 Reuben Rew of Reuben. Abraham was born circa 1730 at Accomack Co, VA. Abraham was living on 26 March 1738 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ He married Mary Byrd circa 1750.² He made a will on 24 September 1783 at Accomack Co, VA.³ Abraham died circa 24 September 1783. Abraham died in August 1785.³ Abraham's will was probated on 30 August 1785 at Accomack Co, VA.³

     Arnold was born circa 1700 at Accomack Co, VA. He married (-----) (-----) circa 1730. On 28 Feb 1748/49 in Acc Court Arnold Morgan (attorney: Geo. Douglas) sued Thomas Bennet, who failed to appear. Morgan, who was to recover £3:01:04 plus costs, was to pay 75 lbs tobacco to his witness Philip Fisher for attending three days.² Arnold was named in his father's will on 15 April 1751 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as son Arnold Morgan in the will of John Morgan Sr., wife Mary.¹ Arnold was named as administrator of an estate on 27 August 1751 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that administration on the estate of Jacob Morgan was granted to Arnold Morgan with William Andrews securities.³ He inherited land in 1751 at tract A139, Mappsville, Acc Co, VA. It was in this year that Arnold inherited 100 aces of tract A139 from his father John Morgan Sr.⁴ He had a child bound to him on 31 August 1756 at Accomack Parish, Acc Co, VA. Ordered that William Bennet Orphan of Thomas Bennet Aged Twelve Years last June be bound by the Church Wardens of Accomack Parish till Lawfull Age to Arnold Morgan to learn the Trade of a House Carpenter the said Arnold first giving security for the Performance of the Indentures.⁵ Arnold witnessed a will on 19 June 1759 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that Arnold Morgan, George Johnson & Solomon Johnson witnessed the will of Mary Bell the mother of Tabitha Thatam & others.⁶ He was security on the administration of an estate on 30 December 1760 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that administration on the estate of James Morgan was granted to Mary Morgan with Arnold Morgan security.⁷ Arnold witnessed a will on 25 September 1762 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that Arnold Morgin, William Bell & Bridget Bell witnessed the will of Edmond Kelly, wife Catherine.⁸ He married Mary Bell, daughter of Edward Bell and Mary (-----), before 25 February 1764 at Accomack Co, VA.⁹ Arnold witnessed a will on 25 February 1764 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that Arnold Morgin, William Bennett & Mary Morgin witnessed the will of George Johnson, wife no name.¹⁰ Arnold witnessed a will on 2 September 1764 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that Arnold Morgin, John Cowley & Edward Gunter Jr. witnessed the will of David James, wife Elizabeth.¹¹ Arnold witnessed a will on 20 May 1766 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that Arnold Morgan, John Onions & Scarburgh Lewis witnessed the will of Anne Stockley..¹² Arnold witnessed a will on 17 April 1769 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that Arnold Morgan & Mary Morgan witnessed the will of Rachel Bell, who named 8 children.¹³ Arnold made a will on 1 December 1771 at Accomack Co, VA. Grandson John Glasby plantation where I live. To grandson William Glasby plantation purchased of Joseph Smith. Wife Mary to have use of land, if she remain a widow, until my grandsons come to age, provided she let my youngest daughter Sarah Morgan live with her, & to let my two grandsons live with her. Daughter Leah Cole. Brother William Morgan & William Sacker James Exrs. Witt: Edward Gunter, Thomas Taylor, Mary Bennit.⁹ Arnold died before 26 February 1772 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that his will was probated. Leah Cole & Sarah Morgan, 2 of the co-heirs of the testator, appeared in their proper persons, Ann Hinman, the other co-heir not being found by the Sheriff to be cited. Stephen Bloxom app. guardian to William Glasby, another of the heirs of the testator. Mary Morgan qualified..⁹ He deeded land as a gift in 1772 at tract A139, Mappsville, Acc Co, VA. It was in this year that Arnold (wife Mary) left his home place to a grandson Jon Glasby, and the plantation he had bought from Joseph Smith to another grandson William Glasby; the Smith-Morgan deed was not found, and the latter piece has not been definitely identified. As time went on, the name Glasby, sometimes spelled Glaspy or Glaspie, gradually became Gillespie, with an accent on the first syllable. While the land was not traced further, descendants of John Glasby kept adding to their holdings until only a few years when a survey showed that a Gillespie owned over 350 acres in this immediate vicinity, and there are people of that name still living on a part of the land.⁴

She was to have use of land, if she remain a widow, until my grandsons come to age, provided she let "my" youngest daughter Sarah Morgan live with her, & to let my two grandsons live with her. (NOTE: It seems as though she was not the mother of any of his children.).³ Mary made a will on 26 June 1775 at Accomack Co, VA. To Leah Tatham. To Mary Bennet, wife of William Bennet. To Jacob Bell & Ann Foster, son & dau of my cousin William Bell. To Elizabeth Redding. To John Glasby.      Sarah was born circa 1750. Sarah was named in her father's will on 1 December 1771 at Accomack Co, VA. She was shown as my youngest daughter Sarah Morgan in the will of Arnold Morgan, wife Mary.¹

     Leah was born circa 1740. As of before 1760,her married name was Cole.¹ She married (-----) Cole before 1760.¹ Leah was named in her father's will on 1 December 1771 at Accomack Co, VA. She was shown as my daughter Leah Cole in the will of Arnold Morgan, wife Mary.²

     Dennis was born circa 1775 at Accomack Co, VA.³ Dennis was named in his father's will on 22 December 1799 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as a son Dennis C. Hinmon in the will of George C. Hinmon. George named his wife Tabitha & son Dennis Extrs. However, at probate Dennis Clayton (not Dennis Clayton Hinmon) qualified to settle the estate. For some unknown reason, Dennis and his mother Tabitha and brother George, all went by the name Clayton after this time. According to Whitelaw, even his father was often referred to in local records as simply George Clayton, instead of George Clayton Hinmon..¹ He married Susanna Riley, daughter of Thomas Riley and Ann Fletcher, on 12 February 1800 at Accomack Co, VA. Charles Bagwell was the security on the M.L.B. of Dennis Clayton and Susanna Riley..⁴ Dennis was named in his mother's will on 9 June 1811 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as a son Dennis Clayton in the will of Tabitha Clayton..² He was named in a land cause on 4 May 1813 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that Raymond Riley, Dennis Clayton & Susannah his wife were shown as heirs of Henry Fltecher Sr. (NOTE: Raymond and Susannah were children of Ann Fletcher, a daughter of Henry Fletcher Sr., and wife of Thomas Riley.).⁵ He made a will on 11 November 1841 at Accomack Co, VA.
