John was born in 1600 at Maidstone, Co Kent, England. He was aged 16 in the 1619 Visitation of Kent. Epes' interests after the Captain left the shore in the late 1620s. He made two depositions about Epes' land, one, 8 Sep 1634, as age 30 and another 1 Jan 1636/7, as aged 37 or thereabouts. In the first of these he is called a kinsman of Espes. He came to the colony on the "Ann" (per Dr. Bill Burton)..1 He married Elizabeth (-----) circa 1630 at Northampton Co, VA.4 John was named as an heir on 7 November 1639 at Northampton Co, VA. Alice was born circa 1605 at England. As of circa 1624,her married name was Stratton. She married Benjamin Stratton circa 1624. She married (-----) Chilcott circa 1627.2 As of before 1 January 1638,her married name was Bagwell.1 She married Henry (1) Bagwell, son of David Bagwell and Joanna Chappelle, before 1 January 1637/38. It was by this date that Henry Bagwell had married Alice (-----) Stratton Chilcott, widow of Benjamin Stratton and widow of (-----) Chilcott. On that day she petitioned for and received from the Accawmack County court 200 acres due for her own transportation and for that of her son Thomas Stratton and two servants John Walthum and John Crowder. At the same court she disposed of this land by deeding 100 acres each to Thomas Stratton and to a daughter Mary Chilcott..1 On 1 Jan 1637 Alice Bagwell, wife of Henry, received a certificate for 200 acres of land due her for the transportation of herself, son Thomas Stratton, and two servants. The tract (N22) was in Aqusca Neck, on Old Plantation Creek and was known as Stratton Manor. According to a brick in the old chimney, part of the present house dates from 1694 and was probably built by Thomas Stratton's son Benjamin. The name of her Stratton husband did not appear; he may have died in transit, or she and her son came on their own. Mrs. Bagwell immediately deeded the rights: 100 acres each to son Thomas Stratton and daughter Mary Chilcott, who later married a Mr. Hanby.3,4 Alice was named as an heir on 8 November 1646 at Northampton Co, VA. She was shown as Alice Bagwell and given the rest of my estate (not already given) in the will of Ann Howkins. She also named John, Thomas & Rebecca Bagwell and named Henry Bagwell her extr. If Alice is not a daughter of Ann & William Hawkins, but since she was left the remainer of her estate and since her husband Henry Bagwell was named the sole extr, she would then be a sister or some other close relation.5,1

Thomas was born circa 1734 at Northampton Co, VA. His marriage record shows he had consent from his mother, implying he was under age 21. This and the fact that he chose his own guardian in 1751 (meaning he was age 14 or over), would put his birth between 1734 and 1737..2,3 Thomas was named in his grandfather's will on 21 February 1743 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that he was named in his grandfather John Dolby's will..4 Thomas was named in his father's will on 8 January 1750 at Northampton Co, VA.5 On 13 Aug 1751 Thomas Fisher chose Susannah Fisher as his guardian.6 Thomas was living in August 1751 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that Thos, orphan of Maddo. Fisher chose his own guardian. He would have had to have been age 14 or older in order to chose his own guardian. (This did not imply that he was exactly age 14.).3 He married Sarah Smith, daughter of William Smith, on 1 August 1754 at Northampton Co, VA. William Major was the security on the M.L.B. of Thomas Fisher and Sarah Turner, widow of George Turner. Thomas and Susanna Knight gave consent for her son Thomas. Littleton Savage, Thomas Dunn and Peggy Major were witnesses..2 When Thomas Fisher secured an Act, 1769, to break the entail on 405 acres it was stated the land had descended to him from his father Maddox Fisher, grandfather John Fisher and great-grandfather Philip Fisher. Whitelaw, p. 460, makes it clear this land was the inheritance of Philip's son Thomas, and not his son John. The Thomas Fisher who broke the entail obviously erred regarding the name of his grandfather. The available records and the laws governing the inheritance of entailed land further require the conclusion that there were two generations, not one, between Thomas Fisher (s/o Philip) and the Thomas who broke the entail and that Maddox Fisher (father of the latter Thomas), who married Susanna Dolby and left will, 8 Jan 1749/50-13 Mar 1749/50 (N'hamp Co Wills & Inventories, 1740-50, p. 440), was son of Maddox Fisher (wife Sarah) (Adventurers of Purse and Person, p. 282).7 Thomas sold land in 1784 at Accomack Co, VA. It was after selling land to Thomas Fitchett at this time, that Thomas and Sarah Fisher moved to Isle of Wright County..8 He made a will on 14 September 1789 at Isle of Wight Co, VA.9 Thomas died in 1789 at Isle of Wight Co, VA.9 Thomas's will was probated on 7 January 1790 at Isle of Wight Co, VA.9 Thomas was living on 27 February 1796. It was on this date that he was named as a nephew in the will of Thomas Dalby Sr. of Northampton Co. (Evidently Thomas Dalby did not know his nephew had died, or we have mistaken the Thomas Fisher who died in 1789)..10

His common name was Ismay. Esme was born in 1745 at Northampton Co, VA. Ismay Fisher, orphan of Maddox, chose his guardian Dec 1759. This implies he was age 14 or older at that time..1 Esme was named in his father's will on 8 January 1750 at Northampton Co, VA. He married Margaret Hall, daughter of Col. Thomas Hall and Elizabeth Scarburgh, on 16 April 1765 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that Margaret Fisher was named to administer his estate. Appraisers were William White, James Sandefert, Isaac Johnson and William Christian.4 Esme was living on 27 February 1796. It was on this date that he was named as a nephew in the will of Thomas Dalby Sr. of Northampton Co. John was born circa 1730 at Northampton Co, VA. Her common name was Rose. Rosanna was born circa 1741 at Northampton Co, VA. Rose Fisher, orphan of Maddox, chose her guardian Dec 1759, implying she was age 14 or over at that time. The said land decended to the said Margaret as heir. The admr Charles Floyd was allowed to have the use & benefit of the plantation until some person should be qualified to take over and deliver it in good repair to whom it should belong. The said Charles died and since his death John Floyd, admr of Elizabeth Floyd who was admr of the said Charles, has been in possession and has received the benefits. Yet he refuses to put it in good order and will not deliver it to the said Margaret to whom the plantation belongs. The petitioners ask the Court to summons the said John to answer to the above.
