William was born in 1645 at Pocomoke Neck, Acc Co, VA. On 16 Jul 1663 in Accomack Court William Anderson, aged about 18 years, gave a deposition that the heifer that John Rogers accepted was coal black with only a little white on the udder and tail. Signed Will. Anderson..3 After his father died in 1648, his mother Amey named her 4 children viz: Garrett, Amey, William & Elizabeth Anderson in a deed of gift.2 In 1660 Amy Waddelowe, widow of Nicholas, sold the whole 400 aces of tract N80 that had been patented by her husband Garrett Anderson in 1640, to Richard Hinman. How she obtained a fee-simple title is not clear, in view of the fact that a son William Anderson was still living to inherit, but it may be that he was under age and she was acting for him.4 William bought land on 10 November 1663 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that Tabeteaby (was this Tapatiapon who was great Emperor of the Eastern Shore?) sold William Anderson 600 acres on the bay bordering Dr. George Hack's land. Singed Tabeteaby (W.) (NOTE: Anderson must have been buying land at age 18, as his deposition of July 1663 showed him as aged 18.).5 He married Mary [14] Wise, daughter of Col. John Wise Sr. and Hannah [6] Scarburgh, circa 1667 at Accomack Co, VA. The proof that William Anderson's first wife Mary was a daughter of Col. John Wise is based on the fact Col. Wise named both of William Anderson's daughters, Naomi and Comfort, as granddaughters in his will of 21 Oct 1693. William Anderson's 2nd wife Mary, widow of John Renny, wrote her will in 1703. So she was alive when John Wise wrote his will and would have been named in his will if she had been his daughter, but instead he named his granddaughters Naomi & Comfort, implying that their mother was dec'd..6 William was named in his mother's will on 20 August 1678 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as my son William Anderson and named Extr. in the will of Amy Fowkes..1 He married Mary (-----) in October 1678 at Accomack Co, VA. On 17 Dec 1678 in Accomack Court it was recorded that Mr. Wm. Anderson, who had married Mary (the widow of administratress of Mr. John Reny), proved that Wm. Wallis (dec'd) owed 370 lbs tobacco to Anderson in the right of his wife. Also on this date Mr. William Anderson, who married the widow of John Renny, declared that Renny (during his lifetime) had sold William Wallis (now also deceased) 200 acres on ths south side of the Pokomoke River. Anderson's wife alleged that she had not consented to the sale of her right of dower or thirds and had not signed any relinquishment. Ordered that the sheriff divide the land and give Anderson the thirds in the right of his wife after the next court, when it would be determined if she had relinquished her right or not..7 William Anderson was security on the administration of an estate on 20 June 1693 at Accomack Co. On 21 Feb 1692/93 administration on the estate of Col. Daniel Jenifer was granted to Capt. Daniel of St. Thomas Jenifer, son of said Col. Daniel, to take effect when he becomes 21, which will be 3 May next. Administration was granted 20 Jun 1693 with Capt. William Custis, William Anderson, William Parker of Matompkin & Edward Brotherton securities.8 He made a will on 23 July 1698 at Accomack Co, VA. To Mr. Francis Makemie & Naomi his wife, my eldest daughter all my lands at Matchatanck, being 1000 acres & for want of heirs to my 3 grandaughters Elizabeth, Naomi & Comfort Taylor, daughters of Elias & Comfort Taylor - To Francis Makemie all the money lent him & that he may have his sloop at my death &c., he paying 6 £ ster. to my sister Barns; 5 £ to my sister Hope & 5 £ to my sister Nock, and bestowing education to the value of 50 £ on my 3 grandchildren. To Francis & Naomi Makemie plantation at Pocomoke containing 950 acres for life & for want of issue to Taylor grandchildren. To wife Mary plantation at Accomson for life then to Taylor grandchildren. Land at Sikes Island not already given my daughter Comfort, being 350 acres to the next daughter my daughter Comfort shall have, if none then to the 3 daughters now living. To nephew & godson Anderson Parker 400 acres at Pungoteague & for want of heirs to Thomas Parker, & for want of heirs to Matthew Parker. To sister Comfort Scott debts now due me in the county of Sussex. To nephew William Hope, son of George & Temperance Hope, 250 acres at Forked Neck at the head of Pitts Creek in Somerset County, Maryland, being 1/2 of 500 acres called Fookes Choice. To nephew William Parker. Son in law & daughter Naomi Ex'rs. Edmund Custis, Edward Moore, Brother George Hope & Thomas Perry to appraise estate. Witt: William Bloxham, Abraham Bancks, Sara Pritchet, Edmund Custis, Gervis Baggale. The full text of his will is in "The Life Story of Rev. Francis Makemie," pp. 109-115. It is not clear if the sisters were his full or half sisters, as they were not named in the will of his father, Garrett Anderson, in 1648, nor in his mother's will (then Amy Fowkes) in 1678.

George was born in 1587 at Southwark, Surrey, England. He was baptized on 28 July 1588 at St. Saviour's Pr, Southwark, Surrey, England.2 Sir George Yeardley, knighted at Newmarket, 24 Nov 1618, during the birthday celebration of the Prince of Wales, was one of sixty gentlemen subscribers and share-holders under the Second Charter of the Virginia Company, 23 May 1609. He followed neither the trade of his father nor that of his brother, Ralph Yeardley, but chose the life of a soldier and joined a company of English foot- soldiers to fight in the Netherlands against Spain, common enemy of England and Holland. As Captain of the personal bodyguard of soldiers selected to serve Sir Thomas Gates during his term as Governor of Virginia. Yeardley sailed 1 June on the newly appointed official on the "Seaventure," the flag-ship of the 1609 expedition. The ships in the expedition encountered a hurricane and the passengers on the "Seaventure," wrecked off the coast of the Bermuda Islands, were forced to remain on those islands for nine months and did not reach Virginia until 1610. Finding the colony in a desperate situation because of sickness, hostility of the Indians and an insufficient food supply, Sir Thomas Gates concurred in a decision of the settlers to abandon Jamestown and return to England. However, he ordered his own company of soldiers under Capt. George Yeardley to guard the town and prevent anyone setting fire to the buildings as they were evacuated. This precaution enabled the colonists to reclaim their habitations when the timely arrival of Lord De La Warr bringing relief turned back the ships already embarked down the James River for their return. Capt. Yeardley was co-commander of the early Forts Henry and Charles established at Kecoughtan and he and Capt. Edward Brewster were in charge of 150 men ordered by Lord De La Warr to set out for the mountains to discover gold or silver mines, Oct 1610. He was designated Deputy Governor, 1616, when Sir Thomas Dale, appointed Governor, 1614, returned to England. One of his first tasks as Deputy-Governor was to force the Chickahominy Indians to keep their agreement, made during Dale's time, to supply the colonist with food. He led 84 men against them and not only obtained the required food, but brought about a peace with the natives which lasted two years and assured a continuing supply of provisions. Yeardley returned to England late in 1617 when Samuel Argall arrived with a commission to govern the colony. On 29 Sept 1618 George Yeardley was appointed to replace Argall and was officially confirmed Governor and Captain-General of Virginia, 18 Nov 1618. Six days later he was knighted. He and his wife Temperance sailed for Virginia aboard the "George," 10 Jan 1618/9, arriving at Jamestown 19 Apr 1619, having been delayed by a "sore voyage." Under the leadership of Sir George Yeardley and less than four months after his arrival in Virginia, the first representative legislative Assembly to meet on American soil convened at the church in Jamestown, 30 July 1619. One of the first acts was to set the price of tobacco. Yeardley declined a second appointment as Governor, but remained in Virginia as a member of the Council and served as Deputy Governor, 1625, when his successor Sir Francis Wyatt returned to England. However, Sir George Yeardley was commissioned Governor a second time, 4 Mar 1626/7, but did not complete his term of office as he died at Jamestown where he was buried in the church, 13 Nov 1627. His will, dated 12 Oct 1627 at Jamestown, was proved in Virginia, 5 Feb 1727/8, and in London, 14 Feb 1627/8, with administration granted to his brother Ralph Yeardley. He named "my wife Temperance" and his three children, all under 21. He mentioned "his house in James City where in I now dwell, my lands and houses within the island of James City . . . my one thousand acres of land at Stanley in Warwicke River." With his commission as Governor, 18 Nov 1618, there were assigned "300 acres of land to be set out for the Governor so to ease the Company henceforward of all charge in mayntayning him." At Flowerdew Hundred, his plantation of 1,000 acres on the south side of James River opposite Weyanoke, Yeardley had built the first windmill in the colony. By 1624 he had sold this plantation to Capt. Abraham Peirsey. In 1626 Governor Yeardley intimated his intention of taking out a patent of 1,000 acres on Mulberry Island in the area which later became Warwick County and in the 1626 list of patents Governor Yeardley was credited with 3700 acres at Hungars on the Eastern Shore (Adventurers of Purse and Person, pp. 723-726). He married Temperance Flowerdieu, daughter of Anthony Flowerdew and Martha Stanley, circa 1613 at Jamestown, VA.2 George died before 13 November 1627 at Jamestown, VA.3 His body was interred on 13 November 1627 at Jamestown, VA.1
