     Miss Sadie Elizabeth Fletcher, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Thomas E. Fletcher, died on 18 Jan 1917 and was buried in Onancock Cemetery, Rev. E.W.      Mr. Edgar Douglas Fletcher, aged 61 years, died at home at Accomac on 25 Mar 1934. The funeral was conducted by Rev. Forbes and Stewart with burial in Onancock Cemetery. He was born in Gent, Norfolk, in 1872, the son of T.E. Fletcher. Survivors included a wife, 3 daughters, 4 sons, 3 brothers and his mother, all of who were named (E.S. News, 30 Mar 1934). It is interesting that in his will James Justice repeats the statement "to my 3 children named in this will" three times, implying there may be other children not named in the will. He was age 43 when he married Sally Conquest. He would have been age 25 when Ann Miles was born circa 1815, but she was shown as Ann Tyler when she married Parker Miles in 1835.).¹ James died before 28 March 1848 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that his will was probated. James W. Custis & John Savage Sr., 2 of the Extrs. named, gave separate bonds of $10,000 each, with William P. Bayly & John B. Ailworth their securities. On 24 Apr 1848 Joseph Conquest, another of the Extrs. named, also gave a bond of $10,000 with David Broadwater & Thomas H. Parramore his securities..¹

Oldham of Temperanceville, cousins Leroy Oldham of Baltimore, MD, and Elizabeth Grace Oldham of Washington, brother-in-law Walter C. Nelbett of Lunenburg Co, VA, nephews: Clarence Brodwater Neblett, Donald Emory Neblett, James MacFarland Beblett, and Walter Colin Neblett, niece Helen Katherine Neblett, and cousin Bertha R. Pruitt. There were no witness. At probate Robert H. Oldham and W.H. Pruitt Jr. attested to the hand writing and Warner Ames and Alfred J. Lilliston were sureities (Acc Co Will Bk 21, 1920-28, p. 49). They were married by G.H. Ewell at the bride's father's home, the residence of Elijah Northam..¹ Benjamin was listed as a head of household in the census of in 1880 at Accomack Co, VA. The 1880 census shows they had three daughters: Mary W. Young, born circa 1864; Elizabeth J. Young, born circa 1868; and Ida S. Young, born circa 1874.. Benjamin died in 1927.⁴ His body was interred at Bloxom Cem, Finney Mason Ln, Mappsville, Acc Co, VA.⁴

     Lewis was born on 5 January 1843 at Accomack Co, VA.³ Lewis was listed with his parents in the census of in 1850 at Accomack Parish, Acc Co, VA. He was shown as Lewis Young, age 9 in HH#1054 headed by David Young, a 40 year old farmer..¹ Lewis was named in his father's will on 22 December 1852 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as a son Lewis Young in the will of David Young..² Lewis was listed with his mother in the census of in 1860 at Accomack Parish, Acc Co, VA. He was shown as Louis Young, age 17 and sailing in HH#1327 headed by Marg't Young, age 43..⁴ He served in the Confederate forces during the Civil War.⁵ He married Mary F. Bloxom on 20 February 1866 at Somerset Co, MD. He was shown as Louis R. Young, age 22 and she was shown as Mary Bloxom, age 17. No other information was given..⁶ Lewis was listed as a head of household in the census of on 12 July 1870 at Modest Town, Metompkin District, Acc Co, VA. He was shown as Louis Young the head of HH#MT322, a 35 year old farmer with personal property valued at $300. Listed with him were the following Youngs: Mary, age 30 and keeping house; Emma, age 10 or 11 & at home & Jane, age 1..^7,8 Lewis was listed as a head of household in the census of in 1880 at Metompkin Dist, North, Acc Co, VA. He was shown as Lewis Young, a 34 year old sailor and head of househould. Listed with him were the following Youngs: Mary, a 30 year old wife and house keeper; Emily, a 12 year old daughter; Geo., a 9 year old son; Mary, a 4 year old daughter; Clara, a 2 year old daughter; and an unnamed son, age 1..⁹ Lewis died on 25 February 1884 at Accomack Co, VA, at age 41. According to the Acc Co Death Register he died of consumption. No tombstone has been found..⁵

     Alfred was born in 1851 at Accomack Co, VA.⁴ Alfred was named in his father's will on 22 December 1852 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as a son Alfred Young in the will of David Young..³ On 26 July 1853 Elijah Northam was appointed his guardian. Alfred was listed with his mother in the census of in 1860 at Accomack Parish, Acc Co, VA. He was shown as Alfred Young, age 10 in HH#1327 headed by Marg't Young, age 43..⁵ Alfred was listed with his mother in the census of in 1870 at Metompkin District, Acc Co, VA. He was shown as Alfred Young, a 16 year old farm laborer with personal property valued at $200, in HH#MT440 headed by Margaret Northam, a 50 year old house keeper..⁶ He married Susan Jane Bloxom, daughter of John J. Bloxom and Mary Ann Young, on 29 November 1874 at Temperanceville, Acc Co, VA. He was shown as Alfred D. Young, a 26 year old sailor, the daughter of David & Marg't Young and she was shown as Susan Jane Bloxom, age 23, the daughter of John J. & Mary A. Bloxom. They were married by Montcalm Oldham..² Alfred was listed as a head of household in the census of in 1880 at Metompkin District, Acc Co, VA. He was listed as a 28 year old farmer with a wife, Susan J. Young, age 28; a son David W. Young, age 4; John T. Young, age 2; and Maggie L. Young, age 1 year..⁷ On 1 January 1901, Alfred D. Young and wife Susan J. joined Henry C. Marshall and wife Henrietta T; Franklin P. Mears and wife Mary A; and Nehemiah M. Bloxom and wife Sally L., in selling 69 acres near Nelsonia to Asa J. Bundick for $1,800 (Acc Co Deeds 76, p. 230). The deed. states this was land Mary Bloxom owned when she died and this would be her children and their spouses selling it. Asa J. Bundick bought an additional, adjoining 19 acres from the same people on 29 July 1901 for $600 (Acc Co Deeds 77, p. 85). Descendants of Alfred D. Young tell that his farm was the one near Mears on which Garland Gladding presently lives. It is on route 687, just north of Wessells Cemetery, as this road continues to Hallwood. It appears to be the farm on which Alfred D. Young's father, David Young, was farming in 1850. While the present house, with a garage and other out-buildings across the road, is of more modern construction, there is a much older house on the farm, facing the road after it makes a right angle turn. There is a graveyard in the field across the road from it in which Northams are buried (no stones).
On 22 October 1904, Alfred D. Young and wife Susan J., sold the northern part of their farm, to their son Frank P. Young for $400 (Acc Co Deeds 82, p. 208). On 31 December 1910, they sold the remaining 19 acres to Clarence L. Taylor for $3,500 (Acc Co Deeds 96, p. 420). Family members tell that Alfred D. Young and his wife moved to Hallwood after their family was grown and they sold the farm. Alfred died on 30 April 1930. His obituary states he died of pneumonia on 30 April 1930, leaving a widow, three daughters and four sons. According to it, he had been a mail carrier from Hallwood to Mappsville for many years and a member of Bethel Baptist Church for more than forty years. He was also a member of the Hallwood Council of the Junior Order of United American Mechanics..⁴ His body was interred at Groton's Cem, Hallwood, Acc Co, VA.⁴

     Richard was born on 15 January 1854 at Accomack Co, VA.² He married Polly Ann Bundick, daughter of William James 'W.J.' Bundick and Elizabeth Seymour Baker, on 3 January 1877 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as Rich'd W. Summers, a 22 year old sailor, the son of Jno. & Vienna Summers and she was shown as Polly A. Bundick, age 22, the daughter of Wm. J. & Soymour Bundick. They were married near Fox Store by D.A. Woodson..¹ He later became the postmaster at Bloxom. Richard died on 24 June 1913 at age 59.² His body was interred at Modest Town Baptist Ch Cem, Acc Co, VA.²

     Mollie was born in 1869 at Accomack Co, VA.² She married Robert W. Hickman, son of Robert W. Hickman and Elizabeth Coxton, on 27 December 1893 at Modest Town, Acc Co, VA. He was shown as Robert Hickman Jr., a 24 year old farmer, the son of Robt & Betsey Hickman and she was shown as Mollie Somers, age 24, the daughter of George & Eveline Somers..¹ Mollie was living in 1917. Mollie died in 1936.² Her body was interred at Parksley, Acc Co, VA.²

     Robert was born in 1869 at Accomack Co, VA.² He married Mollie Somers, daughter of Capt. George T. Somers Sr. and Eveline Wessells, on 27 December 1893 at Modest Town, Acc Co, VA. He was shown as Robert Hickman Jr., a 24 year old farmer, the son of Robt & Betsey Hickman and she was shown as Mollie Somers, age 24, the daughter of George & Eveline Somers..¹ Robert died in 1956.² His body was interred at Parksley Cem, Acc Co, VA.²

     Maynard was born circa 1890. He married Belinda Virginia Lewis, daughter of Revel J. Lewis and Edith M. Nelson, on 7 March 1917 at Baltimore, MD.¹ Maynard was living in 1917 at Baltimore, MD.¹

     Clementine was born in 1898.¹ She married Nathaniel F. Taylor circa 1930.¹ Clementine died in 1976.¹ Her body was interred at J.W. Taylor Cem, Temperanceville, Acc Co, VA.¹

     Nathaniel was a member of the armed forces serving at US Army, World War II.¹ Nathaniel was born on 15 August 1917.¹ He married Carolyn Lusby circa 1938.¹ Nathaniel died on 25 June 1978 at age 60.¹ His body was interred at J.W. Taylor Cem, Temperanceville, Acc Co, VA.¹

     Carolyn was born in 1920.¹ She married Nathaniel Corbin Taylor Sr., son of Nathaniel F. Taylor and Charlotte Milligan Corbin, circa 1938.¹ Carolyn died in March 1988.¹ Her body was interred at J.W. Taylor Cem, Temperanceville, Acc Co, VA.¹

'Willie' Byrd, on 29 November 1917 at Atlanta, GA. Mr. W. Cecil Stant and Miss Josephine Carr were married in Atlanta, GA, on 29 Nov 1917, Thanksgiving evening, at the Methodist Parsonage. He is the eldest son of Mr. & Mrs. Corbin F. Stant. Miss Josephine Carr is from Baltimore, MD (Acc News, 7 Dec 1917)..²

     Little Eleanor Virginia McCready, only child of Mr. & Mrs. Lonzie McCready, formerly of Messongo, but now of Saxis, died on 26 Feb 1918, aged 19 months (Acc News, 22 Mar 1918). Eleanor was born in July 1916.¹ Eleanor died on 26 February 1918 at Saxis Island, Acc Co, VA, at age 1.¹

     Ford Cutler, the little son of Mr. & Mrs. Beadles Cutler, died on 31 Mar 1918, after a short illness of infantile paralysis (Acc News, 31 Mar 1918). Ford was born circa 1917 at Saxis Island, Acc Co, VA. Ford died on 31 March 1918.¹

     Norman was born in 1897 at Accomack Co, VA.² He married Laurel Gertrude Wessells, daughter of Samuel Henry Wessells and Cora Aline Gladding, before 1918. Norman died in 1970.² His body was interred at Wessells Cem, Mears, Acc Co, VA.²

     Luther was born on 12 April 1876 at Accomack Co, VA.² He married Pamelia S. 'Amelia' Knight, daughter of Dawson J. Knight Sr. and Sarah Elizabeth Hall, circa 1900. Luther died on 29 January 1919 at age 42. Mr. Luther T. Ball was born 12 Apr 1876 and died 29 Jan 1919. His mother died when he was 9 years old and his father died when he was 22 years old. He married Amelia S. Knight. He has one son, Clifton Luther Ball, now 13 years old. He was a member of the Hall's Chapel for 18 years (Acc News, 14 Mar 1919)..² His body was interred at Knight's Cem, Messongo, Acc Co, VA.³

     Pamelia was born on 5 August 1882 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ She married Luther T. Ball, son of Benjamin T. Ball and Cinthia 'Cincinnatti' Parker, circa 1900. She married George Edward Smith, son of Edward Smith and Catherine E. 'Caty' Moore, circa 1935. Pamelia was living in 1949.² Pamelia died in 1984.³ Her body was interred at Knight's Cem, Messongo, Acc Co, VA.³

     Lee was born on 6 May 1900 at Saxis Island, Acc Co, VA.² She was listed as a resident in the census report in 1900 at Saxis Island, Acc Co, VA.¹ She was listed as a resident in the census report in 1910 at Saxis Island, Acc Co, VA.³ She married Bryan Bundick, son of Horace N. Bundick and Mary P. 'Manie' Terry, on 15 March 1919.⁴ Lee died on 7 February 1924 at age 23.² Her body was interred at J.W. Taylor Cem, Temperanceville, Acc Co, VA.² Lee was living in 1955.⁵

     The baby of Mr. & Mrs. Francis Knight died 31 Jan 1920 with pneumonia after a few days illness. It had been just loaned to us for a few days (Acc News, 13 Feb 1920). Anna was born in 1919 at Belinda, Acc Co, VA.² Anna died on 31 January 1920.¹ Her body was interred at Knight's Cem, Messongo, Acc Co, VA.²

     Ashton was born circa 1886 at Jenkins Bridge, Acc Co, VA. Ashton was living in 1920.¹

     Jennie was born on 23 July 1860 at Albemarle Co, VA.¹ She married Judge James Henry Fletcher Jr., son of James Henry Fletcher Sr. and Elizabeth Ann Broadwater, circa 1880.¹ As of circa 1880,her married name was Fletcher.¹ Jennie died on 7 January 1947 at age 86.¹ Her body was interred at Edgehill Cem, Accomac, Acc Co, VA.¹

     Addie was born on 15 July 1889 at Accomack Co, VA.² Conflicting evidence states that Addie was born on 8 August 1889.¹ She married Stephen Marshall, son of Alexander Washington Marshall and Mary Anna 'Mamie' Ayres, on 8 November 1908 at MD/VA Line.³ Addie died in 1972.² Her body was interred at Groton's Cem, Hallwood, Acc Co, VA.²

     Alva Martin, the infant daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Lettie Martin of Saxis, died last Sunday, 9 Apr 1922, at the home of her grandparents at Sanford, aged 14 months (Acc News, 14 Apr 1922). Alva was born in February 1921.¹ Alva died on 9 April 1922 at Sanford, Acc Co, VA, at age 1.¹

     Harry was born on 17 January 1902 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ Harry was living in 1922 at Assawoman, Acc Co, VA.² He married Fannie Louise Corbin, daughter of George Thomas Corbin Sr. and Fannie Wallace Bundick, on 11 September 1922 at Beaver Dam, Worcester Co, MD.³ He married Dorothy Robinson circa 1935. Harry died on 13 June 1962 at age 60.¹ His body was interred at Geo Wash Mem Cem, Philadelphia, VA.¹

     Levin was born circa 1845 at Pocomoke City, Worcester Co, MD.¹ Levin was listed as a head of household in the census of 1860 at Dublin Dist, Somerset Co, MD. He was shown as Levin F. Bunting the head of HH#543, a 25 year old laborer and living alone. The only other Bunting in Somerset Co was William J. Bunting, the head of Dublin Dist HH#528, a 33 year old farmer, wife Hester.² Levin was listed with another family in the census of 1870 at Atlantic Dist, Acc Co, VA. He was shown as Levin Bunting, a 25 year old clerk in store in HH#AT617 headed by Douglas Fletcher, a 23 year old farmer. Also listed in this HH were Thomas Tull, a 23 year old retail merchant and George Tull, a 21 year old clerk in store.¹ He married Sarah Jane Anderton, daughter of Edward H. Anderton and Elizabeth J. 'Betty' White, on 25 January 1871 at Pocomoke City, Worcester Co, MD.³ Levin died on 13 November 1922 at Sanford, Acc Co, VA. Mr. Levin Bunting, who has been sick for the past week, died on Monday afternoon, 13 Nov 1922, at Sanford, survivors were listed (Acc News, 17 Nov 1922)..⁴

     Laura was born in 1872 at Shelltown, Somerset Co, MD.² As of 24 January 1894,her married name was Briddell.³ She married Luther Orison Briddell on 24 January 1894 at Sanford, Acc Co, VA. He was shown as Orrison Briddle, a 24 year old waterman, born in Somerset Co, MD and living in Acc Co, VA and she was shown as Laura F.
