Comfort was born circa 1755 at Accomack Co, VA. Comfort Ewell's birth circa 1755, is based on her age in 5 Acc Co census: 1800, (wife of Mathew), aged over 45; as head of household in the following - 1810 aged over 45; 1820 aged over 45; 1830 aged 70-80; and 1840 aged 70-80. The combination of all of these, except the last, indicate that she was born between 1750 and 1755. The last indicates she was born between 1760 and 1770. Since she was not listed in the 1850 Acc Co census, it is assumed she died circa 1845..2 She married Mathew 'Marthey' Killmon, son of William Killmon, circa 1773.1 Comfort was named in her father's will on 7 October 1793 at Accomack Co, VA. She was shown as a daughter Comfort Kilmon in the will of George H. Ewell. Elizabeth was born circa 1803 at Accomack Co, VA. The 1850 census puts her birth at 1814, the 1860 census puts it at 1803 and the 1870 census puts it at 1804..1,2,3 Since Elizabeth Wessells (HH#979) was living next door to Walter Wessells (HH#978) in the 1850 census, they are assumed to have been siblings. Alfred F. Wessells listed his parents as Dan'l and Eliz'th Wessels on his 1855 marriage record, although he was not living with his mother Betsy in the 1850 Census, but with William Kelly. There was a Daniel Boston, unmarried and age 66 only 3 houses from her in the 1850 Census. Margaret Jane Wessells, who married John W. Linton in 1853 and Susan E. Wessells, who married Jesse T. Miles in 1868 both listed Betsy Wessells as their mother on their marriage records and a father was not listed. A Daniel Wessells of this period has not been found in Acc Co records. It is assumed that Alfred, Margaret, Susan and William (who was listed with his mother in the 1850 Census) were sibblings. Margaret Wessells is shown in the 1850 Census, age 14, living with Elijah Kelly. Margaret, age 22 (bc 1838), is shown as married to John Linton in the 1860 Census, but Susan could not be located in the 1860 Census. Susan is shown in the 1880 Census, age 32 (bc 1848), as the wife of Jesse Tho. Miles on Saxis. She married Daniel Wessells circa 1830.4 Elizabeth was listed with another family in the census of in 1850 at Accomack Parish, Acc Co, VA. She was shown as Elizabeth Wessells, age 36 (born 1814) in HH#979 headed by Henny Bayly, age 46. Also in the household were Wm. Wessells, age 9 (born 1841); Susan Wessells, age 3 (born 1847); and Wm. Bayly, age 3 (born 1847). This household was listed between households headed by Walter Wesssells, age 48 and Solomon J. Small, age 48..1 Elizabeth was listed with another family in the census of in 1860 at Accomack Parish, Acc Co, VA. She was shown as Betsey Wessels, age 57 (born 1803), in HH#363 headed by John Spence, age 63. This was on Saxis Island. Also in the househould were John's wife Ann, age 49 and John Northam, age 26 and his wife Kessiah, age 20; Miranda Corbin, age 4 and Ralph Corbin, age 15 and black..2 Elizabeth was listed as a head of household in the census of in 1870 at Accomack Parish, Acc Co, VA. Shown as Betsy Vessels, age 66 (born 1804) and keeping house, she was the head of HH#346 in Metompkin Township and was living alone. She was two doors from her son Alfred Vessels and his family..3

Tully was born circa 1787 at Accomack Co, VA. The range of Tully's possible birth year from census records are as follows: he is assumed to have been the 10-16 year old male in the household of George Christopher, husband of Susanna Fisher, in 1800, born 1784-1790; 1810, born 1785-1795; 1820, born 1775-1795; 1830, born 1780-1790; 1840, born 1780-1790; 20 Aug 1850, age 63, born 1787. The key census here is 1810 and 1850. 1810 shows the controlling earliest year as 1785 and the latest year in several census is 1790. Since there is very good correlation among all these census, there is no reason to doubt the 1850 census, which shows he was born in 1787. It should also be noted that older persons almost always over estimated their age, which supports the assumption that he was not born before 1787..2 He married Hessy Byrd, daughter of John W. Byrd Sr. and Esther Ross, on 26 October 1809 at Accomack Co, VA. George Wilson was the security on the M.L.B. of Tully Wise Fisher and Hessy Bird..3 He married Nancy Small, daughter of John Small and Nancy (-----), on 4 August 1824 at Accomack Co, VA. George Christopher was the security on the M.L.B. of Tully Fisher and Nancy Small. James Davis, father-in-law, (step-father) of Nancy, consent..3 Tully was living on 1 April 1834 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that Tully W. Fisher, Henry W. Fisher, Susan Northam, Delight Christopher, John Northam, Henry Northam and Sally Hinmon, were named as the only heirs of Thomas Fisher, a soldier in the Virginia Continental Line in the Revolutionary War..1 Tully was listed as a head of household in the census of in 1850 at Accomack Parish, Acc Co, VA. He was shown as Tully W. Fisher, the head of HH#506, age 63 and a farmer. Listed with him was Mary C. Fisher, age 28, and Harriet J. White, age 45..2 Tully died in 1852.4 Administration of Tully's estate was filed on 25 October 1852 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that Littleton Nock of Wm. was named to administer the estate of Tully W. Fisher. Zadock Nock and Arthur Watson were the securities.4

It was in this year that William Bloxom gave 100 acres of his part of tract A126 to his son John, who promptly sold to Isaac Baily and 2 years later he and his wife Lishee resold to Woodman Bloxom. In 1753 Woodman Bloxom deeded to Thomas Bloxom, who in 1722 sold 152 acres to Isaac Smith; this included the 50 acres of the Morris land which he had purchased from Joseph Bell. In 1774 Smith and his wife Elizabeth sold to Salathiel Fitchett, and 3 years later he and his wife Margaret sold 130 acres to Joseph Kelly. In 1796 Joseph Kelly (wife Elizabeth) left the home part to his daughter Hessy Mills, and his daughters Rachel and Famey the 50 acres formerly called Joseph Bell's land.6 He made a will on 16 July 1744 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as grandson Richard, son of Richard, in the will of William Bloxom, wife Elizabeth..2 He married Margaret Simpson Bloxom, daughter of Woodman Bloxom Sr. and Margaret Simpson, circa 1770.1,4 Richard was named as an heir on 13 March 1778 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as son-in-law Richard Bloxom in the will of Woodman Bloxom..4 Whitelaw's A126G is called the Bloxom House. The gambrel-roof house originally had been build in two sections, each having an outside brick end, and stood about 100 yards back from its present location. In the north end was a brick marked 1786 and in the south end other bricks marked WB, HB, AP 3, 1831, so the older part must have been started at least by Richard Bloxom in the year of his death, and the newer during the ownership of William and Hetty Bloxom. In 1934 the brick ends were torn down and the house moved to its present site, but the marked bricks were carefully preserved and set in the new foundations at their respective ends. The present center cross hall was a pat of the earlier construction, and is paneled under the stairs, and the doors are made of wide beaded boards set vertically. In the newer sections are large cupboards with solid doors, but they seem to be the only original woodwork worth noting in either part.5 He made a will on 1 February 1786 at Accomack Co, VA. To wife Margaret Simpson Bloxom whole est during her widow then the land where I live to be divided between my 2 sons Major Simpson Bloxom & Richard Bloxom. Witt: Solomon Johnson, Joseph Kelley, Josua Bell. Thomas Simpson Sr.
M, b. circa 1660, d. January 1726
Thomas was born circa 1660. He married (-----) (-----) circa 1680. Thomas was on the list of tithables at Accomack Co, VA, for in 1685. He was listed in Capt. John Wallop's Precincts as Tho. Simpson with 3 tithes. In 1686 he was listed in Major Bowman's Precincts with 3 tithes. This was apparently not a relocation on his part, but a subdivision of Capt. Wallop's Precincts as most of the others in Major Bowman's Precincts were also in Capt. Wallop's Precincts the prior year. In 1687 he was listed in Capt. Hill's Precincts with 4 tithes. Being on Capt. Hill's list was probably the result of a relocation as many of his neighbors, like Roger Miles and Richard Bundick, were still on Capt. Wallop's list. In 1688 he was listed again in Capt. Hill's Precincts with 5 tithes, but in 1689 he was back on Major Bowman's list, again with 5 tithes. In 1690 he was still on Major Bowman's list, but with only 3 tithes. In 1691 he was back on Capt. Wallop's list, again with 3 tithes. In 1692 he was on Mr. Jo. Robinson's list with only 1 tithe. He was not on any list in 1693, but on Mr. Ed. Custis's list in 1694 with only 1 tithe. This did not reflect a relocation as many of his past neighbors, like Roger Miles and Richard Bundick were on this same list. He was again on Mr. Ed. Custis's list in 1695 with only 1 tithe. During this 10 year period (1685-1695), he was the only Simpson listed. The fact that the tithes started at 3, then increased to 5 and then dropped to 1 can be misleading. Since tithes were to represent males age 16 and up in good health (able to work), either sons, lives-ins, or slaves, its not possible to determine the ages of his sons from these listing, other than to presume none of them had reached the age of 16 by 1695. Therefore, his oldest son could not have been born before 1680..1 Thomas bought land in 1689 at Accomack Co, VA. He bought the Francis Johnson half of Whitelaw's tract A104, which is south-east of the present town of Parksley, from Francis Johnson, Negro. In 1708 Thomas and Sarah Parker sold the other half of tract A104 to Thomas Simpson, who thus became possessed of the whole tract. In 1726 he bequeathed the land as follows: to his son Thomas, 225 acres which formed the southwestern part and included the strip extending to the highway below tract A103; to his son John, 200 acres which he called the home plantation, lying above Thomas's part and extending up to the crossroad; and to son William, 50 acres which he also called a part of the home plantation..2 Thomas was living on 20 October 1689 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that Adam Michael left to his kinsman Henry Custis (son of his brother John Custis) 1,000 acres at 'Matomkin' in Accomack Co, whereon Thomas Simson now lives. This was Whitelaw's tract A94, which is north-east of the present day town of Accomac..3 Thomas deeded land as a gift in 1720 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that Thomas gave 200 acres of Whitelaw's tract A114, which he acquired from William and Margaret Darter, to his son William. The land comprised all of the extension at the southeast corner of the tract and lay between the present main road in Parksley and the head northern branch of Hunting Creek, which later became known as the Parish Branch..4 He made a will on 6 January 1726 at Accomack Co, VA. To son Thomas 'Simson' 225 acres purchased of Thomas Parker, also 50 acres purchased of Peter Claywell. To son William 'Simson' 200 acres purchased of William Darter, also 50 acres where I now live, also 112 and 1/2 acres of marsh. To son John 'Simson' 200 acres where I now live, also 112 and 1/2 acres of marsh. Daughter Sarah 'Simson'. To the poor of the Parish 1,000 lbs of tobacco or £5 money. 9 children: Thomas, Elizabeth, Mary, Margaret, Rachel, William, Patience, John & Sarah residual legatees. Sons Thomas, William and John executors. Wittnesses John Tankred, John Oakley, Mark Littleton..5 Thomas died in January 1726 at Accomack Co, VA.5 Thomas's will was probated on 2 February 1726 at Accomack Co, VA.5
