Edmond Stant is mentioned by Whitelaw in describing the ownership of the western part of tract A157, known as Pigg Point Plantation. The original Patent in 1669 was to Daniel Foxcroft for 600 acres. Part of this tract was purchased by Dr. George Corbin of Nothampton. Dr. Corbin left it to his sons Ralph and Robert. It then passed to Robert's son Ralph, then to Ralph's son Covington, then to Covington's brother Geroge, and then to George's son Ralph. Part of this land left the Corbin family when Ralph and his wife Rachel sold 20 acres of marsh to Jonathan Mears, who in 1778 with his wife Joyce resold to John Silverthorne. In 1800 Ralph Corbin and his wife Rachel left his 280-acres plantation to his son Robert and the property remained intact until 1832 when Robert and his wife Elizabeth sold 31.5 acres to Edmond Stant (Whitelaw, p. 1279). Edmond had married their daughter Milcah. In a deed dated 6 Oct 1832, Robert Corbin and his wife Elizabeth, sold Edmund Stant for $94.50, 31.5 acres of land and marsh, bounded on the SW by Sanford Charity, on the NW by Robert Corbin, on the NE by Robert Corbin and on the SE by Jacob Northam (Acc Deeds 1832-1834, p. 64). Bonnewell and Ann his wife for $1,000, 15 acres bounded on the east by Stephen Corbin, on the north by Pocomoke Mud, on the south by Edward R. Thomas, and on the west by George P. Bonnewell (Acc Deeds No. 42, 1858-1860, p. 146). Edmond was listed in the 1850 and 1860 census as Edward. His occupation was shown as farmer and the value of his real estate was listed as $800 in both census. Edmond was born circa 1805 at Accomack Co, VA.2 He was the son of James Stant and Euphamy Wilson. He married Milcah 'Milky' Corbin on 14 January 1829 at Accomack Co, VA. Edmund C. Godwin and Edward C. Northam were the securities on the M.L.B. of William Stant of Jms. and Milkah Corbin of Robt. His Acc Co death record, which is inconsistent with the newspaper and probate, show Edm. Stant, died on 10 Nov 1885 in Accomack Parish of old age at the age of 85. This showed him as the son of Wm., born in Acc Co, and an unmarried oysterman. His son Sewell Stant gave the information.
