Ephraim was born circa 1730 at Accomack Co, VA. He was the son of James Wessells Sr. and Elizabeth (-----).      Ephraim Vessels Sr. is listed in the 1800 Acc Co Census as over 45 (b. before 1755) with a wife of the same age, 3 males: one 10-16 (bc 1785-90) and two 16-26 (bc 1775-85), 4 females: two under 10 (bc 1790-1800), one 10-16 (bc 1785-90) and one 16-26 (bc 1775-85), and 4 slaves. In 1790 Ephraim Wessells bought 107 acres of A114 (just north of Parksley) from Spencer and Elishe Hickman. The land was between the branch and the Parksley road. In 1814 Ephraim Wessells left it to a son Thomas and nearly 40 years later, after the death of a Thomas H. Wessells, a survey showed 96 acres (Whitelaw, pp. 1121-2). In his will written 20 Sep 1813 he named: a wife Amey; sons Ephraim, Isaac, Thomas (Thomas got the 85 acres purchased from Thomas Cropper, guardian to the heirs of my brother Elijah Wessels); daughters Nancy Wessels and Polly Onions; executors were his 3 sons Ephraim, Issac and Thomas. Witnesses were John Wessels Senr., Robert Taylor and Charles Bagwell. Securities for probate were John Wessells, Isaiah Johnson, and Robert Taylor. Ephraim was born before 1755 at Accomack Co, VA.2 He was the son of Ephraim Wessells. In his will of 5 Apr 1842 John Wessells Sr. named: sons Custis and John; daughters Polly Wessells (land joining William Wessells), Margaret Russell (w/o George Russell), and Patsey Wessells; grandson John Wessells (he and son Custis Wessells got land between Teackle Taylor and James Wessells); and executor Littleton A. Hinman. He also directed the sale of land near Thomas Wessells. Witnesses were Ephraim Wessells (s/o N or A ?) and Selby Lankford Jr. Hinman refused to qualify, so John Wessells did with John Parks and Henry Wessells as securities (Acc Wills 1828-1846, p. 442). John was born circa 1750 at Accomack Co, VA. He was the son of James Wessells Sr. and Patience Young. He married Vice Tull on 18 December 1789 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown only as John Wessells and she as Vice Tull. No other information was given..2 John died in May 1842 at Accomack Co, VA.3 John's will was probated on 30 May 1842 at Accomack Co, VA.3

     Mrs. Anne French, wife of Captain W.H. French, of the French Wrecking Company, of this town, died yesterday morning at 5:40 o'clock at her home on Pearl Street after a brief illness of pneumonia. The deceased was born in Onancock, VA, in 1838 and was in the sixty-sixth year. She moved to Norfolk, where she lived some time before becoming the wife of Captain French, subsequently moving to Berkley. During her residence here (Berkley) she made numerous warm friends, who will be pained to learn of her death. Mrs. French was the daughter of the late Captain William and Mrs. Elizabeth Sparrow, of the Eastern Shore. She leaves four children to mourn their loss, two sons - George W. Glenn and W.N. French - and two daughters - Mrs. George M. Old and Mrs. Leroy M. Lewis. She was an active and consistent member of the Main Street Christian Church and will be greatly missed by that congregation (Virginian Pilot, 7th - Year & Month missing from cutout). Mary was born in 1838 at Onancock, Acc Co, VA.1 She was the daughter of William Thomas Sparrow and Emmaline|Eliz. Morgan. She married George Glenn circa 1854.2 She married William Henry French circa 1860.3,2 Mary was living at Annapolis, MD.4 Mary died in 1904 at Berkley Section, Norfolk, VA.1
