Charles Vernelson

     Charles was born circa 1680 at Accomack Co, VA. Charles bought land in 1711 at Accomack Co, VA. It was in this year that William Belk and wife Grace so 100 acres (of A175) to Charles Vannelson. In 1748 Charles Vanelson (wife Tabitha) left 200 acres to his son Charles, to include 100 acres from A172. Nothing more was found recorded about young Charles, but the subject 100 acres later were owned by Elias Vanelson, who in 1772 (wife Mary) left to his son William..1 Charles bought land in 1711 at Accomack Co, VA. It was in this year that Elias and Ann Taylor sold 3 acres to Charles Vanelson, this little piece being in the angle at the north corner of the tract, and it became merged with other lands bought by Vanelson from adjacent tracts..2 Charles bought land in 1721 at Accomack Co, VA. In was in this year that Edward and Sarah Joyne sold 100 acres to Charles Vanelson, it being the southwest corner of the whole tract (A172). In 1748 Vanelson (wife Tabitha) left to his son Charles, although another son Thomas was the heir-at-law. Nothing more was found on record about either, but in 1777 George Corbin sold 100 acres to Abel Taylor, stating that formerly it had been owned by Charles Vanelson. (Note: George Corbin was appointed guardian to William Vanelson, son of Elias, son of Charles, when Elias died in 1772.).3 He made a will on 23 May 1748 at Accomack Co, VA. To son Charles Venelson plantation where I now live containing 200 acres. To wife Tabitha Venelson. Daughter Anne Venelson. Son Elias Venelson. Son Lisha Venelson. Wife & 3 children, Elias, Lisha & Anne Venelson residual legatees unless my wife be with child, & if so that child to have 1/5 part of what is not before given. Wife & son Charles Extrs. Witt: Caleb Broadwater, Jacob Broadwater, Mary Broadwater, James Broadwater and James Wishart..4 Charles died in 1748.4 Charles's will was probated on 30 August 1748 at Accomack Co, VA. Thomas Venelson was the heir at law to the testator (probably meaning he was the oldest son)..4
