     There is some confusion regarding Edward and Eva J. Spence. The 1910 Census shows "Eva J." Spence, a daughter, age 6, in the household of "Hataway J." Spence, and there is no son Edward. The 1920 Census shows "Edward" Spence, a son, age 15, in the household of "Hathway" Spence, and there is no daughter Eva. It might be assumed that Edward and Eva were the same person. Edward Spence died at home on Saxis, 15 Jan 1928, of typhoid fever, age 23, and was buried in the Ellis Cemetery on Saxis. Survivors were listed (Pen. Ent., 21 Jan 1928). Edward Spence, aged 33(?) years, died at home at Saxis. Funeral services were at the Saxis Methodist, survivors were listed (E.S. News, 20 Jan 1928). His sister, Dola, reported that he was Edward James Spence. Edward was born in 1904 at Saxis, Acc Co, VA.² He was the son of James Hathaway 'Hattaway' Spence and Arinthia A. Linton. He was listed as a resident in the census report in 1920 at Saxis, Acc Co, VA.¹ Conflicting evidence states that he died in 1927.² Edward died on 15 January 1928 at Saxis, Acc Co, VA.³ His body was interred at Ellis Cem, Saxis, Acc Co, VA.²

     Nicholas was born before 1755 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ He married Barbara Marshall on 28 December 1785 at Accomack Co, VA. John McLane was the security on the M.L.B. of Nicholas Knox and Barbara Marshall..² He married Esther Towles on 18 June 1799 at Accomack Co, VA. Thomas Alexander was the security on the M.L.B. of Nicholas Knox and Esther Fiddeman..^3,2 Nicholas was listed as a head of household in the census of in 1800 at Horntown, Acc Co, VA. He was shown as Nicholas Nocks (H.T.), over age 45. Listed with him were 2 males under age 10; 2 males age 10-15; 1 male 16-26; 1 female under age 10; 1 female age 10-16; and 1 female over age 45.      The 1889 death record of his daughter Henrietta M. Marshall, showed her as the daughter of Archibald and Mary Trader, so evidently his middle name was Archibald, as he was otherwise referred to as Littleton A. Trader. Littleton was born circa 1790 at Accomack Co, VA. He was the son of Archibald (92) Trader Sr. and Elizabeth (-----). He married Mary Houston Feddeman circa 1815.^2,3 Littleton was named in his father's will on 18 February 1821 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as a son Littleton A. Trader in the will of Archibald Trader..¹ Littleton was named as an heir on 27 February 1826 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as Littleton A. Trader and received a legacy of $425 in the estate settlement of William Feddeman. Evidently he received this on behalf of his wife Mary..⁴ Littleton died in 1826 at Maryland.

     Elizabeth was born circa 1816 at Accomack Co, VA. She was the daughter of Littleton Archibald Trader and Mary Houston Feddeman. Elizabeth was named in her grandfather's will on 4 October 1823 at Accomack Co, VA. She was shown as a granddaughter Elizabeth Trader in the will of William Feddeman..² She married Walter Jones on 8 August 1836 at Worcester Co, MD.³

     George was born circa 1835 at Accomack Co, VA. His tombstone show 26 Aug 1864, but perhaps it should be 1834, since the 1850 census puts his birth at 1835..^1,2 He was the son of Edmund Grey Godwin and Elizabeth Drummond. George was listed with his parents in the census of in 1850 at Accomack Parish, Acc Co, VA. He was shown as George S. Godwin, a 15 year old laborer in HH#573 headed by Edmund Godwin, a 47 year old carpenter..¹ George died on 10 January 1911 at Messongo, Acc Co, VA. Scarborough Godwin of Sanford, aged about 68 years, was found in a ditch near Messongo Bridge recently. It is supposed that he died from exposure after having fallen in the ditch (E.S. Herald, 20 Jan 1911). This would put his birth circa 1843. However, the 1850 Census shows circa 1835 and his tombstone shows 24 Aug 1864..² His body was interred at Drummond Cem, Jenkins Bridge, Acc Co, VA.²

     Joseph was born circa 1819 at Accomack Co, VA.² He was the son of Meshack Feddeman. Joseph was listed with another family in the cenus of in 1850 at St. George Parish, Acc Co, VA. He was shown as Joseph Fiddaman, a 31 year old blacksmith in HH#1114 headed by Wm. H. Parker, a 41 year old hotel keeper with real estate valued at $6,000. Although his tombstone shows he was born in 1843, the 1850 census puts his birth at 1837 and this first marriage record puts his birth at 1841 and his second marriage records puts his birth at 1840..^1,3 He was the son of Edmund Grey Godwin and Elizabeth Drummond. Julius was listed with his parents in the census of in 1850 at Accomack Parish, Acc Co, VA.
