Samuel was born circa 1704 at Marumsco, Som Co, MD. This Samuel Marshall gave his age on 28 Jun 1753 as 48 and in 1759 as 56 (Som Jud 1752/54:127 & 1760/63:37)..1 He was the son of Adrian Marshall and Elizabeth (18) Long. He married Grace Adams circa 1740.3,4 Samuel died in 1784 at Accomack Co, VA. Samuel Marshall's name appears on the Acc Co tax list for 1784, as does Samuel Marshall, Junr. There is no record of Samuel Marshall Sr.'s death in Acc Co. He owned no land and left no will. He had apparently died before 1787, when the tax list of that year shows only one Samuel Marshall. Two of his sons, Benjamin and Thomas, were renting Sanford Charity land in 1800, 1802 and 1805 through 1809 (pp. 24 & 28)..

March 1736/7 Thomas Marshall and wife Jane filed the administration account on the estate of Abraham Heath. 6/18/1740 John White, eldest son of Stevens White, son of John White the elder, with wife Mary White, sold to Thomas Marshall and wife Jane Marshall 100A "Mitchells Lott." (Dryden, Som. Land, p. 297) Jane was living in 1748 when daughter Jane was born and probably 1754 when Martha was born. It's a guess that Jane didn't die until just before Thomas deeded away all his lands to his two sons in 1774. Ruth Dryden's Som. Land Records (p.369) shows 1774 Thomas Marshall, wife Grace Adams Marshall, gave to son Isaac Marshall 39A. The deed reads: On 20 April 1774 Thomas Marshall of Somerset County deeded to Isaac Marshall son of the aforesaid Thomas, of same, for love and affection and five shillings the plantation whereon Isaac now lives, 240 1/2 acres of Bostons Chance, 25 acres of Boston Green, 39 acres of Shoemaker Meadow, 19 2/3 acres of Bostons Purchase and 200 acres of Bostons Purchase (E:158). No wife relinquished dower on the 1774 deed. 1747 probably the Thomas Marshall of Somerset who purchased 50A "Venture" from Francis & Mary Carey of NC; his brother, Samuel, was named in will of Abigail Tomlinson of "Venture" On 6 March 1758 Samuel Adams sold to Thomas Marshall for £42.10 19 1/3 acres of Bostons Purchase and 58 2/3 acres of Shoemakers Meadow; Sarah wife of Samuel consenting (B:201). Samuel Adams was the son of Jacob and nephew to Philip Adams d. 1772, so this deed, plus the remuneration which seems to be fair market value, cannot lend weight to the argument that Grace Adams m. Thomas Marshall. 1730 in household of his brother Samuel at Pocomoke 100 With Jeffrey Long appointed gdn to children of Isaac Boston in Boston's will 4/30/1751. Probably the Thomas Marshall, Church Warden, Coventry Parish, 1763 (Torrence, p. 198) April 20, 1774 Stephen Marshall of Accomack Co. from Thomas [X] Marshall of Somerset: A gift of 4 tracts where Thomas now lives in Somerset - "Marshall's Inheritance", "Priveledge", "Turkey Trap", and "Mitchell's Lot" ? 481 acres. Somerset County, Liber F?O?27, p. 160 April 20, 1774 Thomas Marshall gave to Isaac Marshall 240 1/2A "Bostons Chance" with "Bostons Green," "Shoemakers Meadow," "Bostons Purchase," etc. with 523 2/3A. 1783 tax list shows Isaac Marshall with 240 1/2A "Bostons Chance." 1808 Thomas Marshall of Isaac sold 100A "Bostons Chance" to Asia Dicks. 1808 William Marshall of Isaac, wife Sarah, sold to brother Thomas Marshall 100A "Bostons Chance". (Dryden, Som. Land) Thomas had land at Saxis Island, Accomack Co., VA: 1776 Stephen stopped Accomack processioners from establishing the boundary line between his father, Thomas Marshall, and Daniel Hall (Acc Orders 1774-1777, p. 427). Thomas was born circa 1712 at Marumsco, Som Co, MD. In four depositions in which Thomas Marshall reported his age, his birth falls between 1707 and 1715; tax lists suggest 1712/14. On 20 Oct 1776 he was age 69 but on 20 May 1775 he was age 60..3 He was the son of Adrian Marshall and Elizabeth (18) Long. He married Jane (-----) on 18 May 1736. Jane was the widow of Abraham Haith..1,4 Thomas deeded land as a gift on 20 April 1774. On 20 Apr 1774 Thomas Marshall, for love and affection and 5 shillings, conveyed to Stephen Marshall of Acc Co, VA, 581 acres: "Marshall's Inheritance" (309 acres), "Turkey Trap" (44 acres), part of "Mitchells Lott" called "Chance" (75 acres) and "Privilege" (53 acres) (Som. Deeds 27:160). On 21 Apr 1774 Thomas Marshall deeded to son Isaac 523 acres: "Boston's Green" (240 acres), "Chance" (25 acres), "Shoemakers Meadow" (39 acres), "Saywards Purchase" (19 acres) and "Boston's Purchase" (200 acres) (Som. Deeds 27:158).. He made a will on 24 April 1786 at Somerset Co, MD. In his will Thomas Marshall made bequests of money to grandsons John Harris (of John), named executor, George Harris (of John), and Thomas Marshall (who was to have all moveable estate); to granddaughters Martha Marshall (of Isaac), Mary Marshall (of Thomas) and Mary Harris (of John). Witnesses were Purnell Outten, George Howard, Sarah Coulbourn (Som. Wills EB1:245).. Thomas died in June 1786 at Somerset Co, MD. Thomas's will was probated on 20 June 1786 at Somerset Co, MD. (Dryden, Som Wills 1777-88, f.245).

Evidently Isaac Marshall, like his brother Stephen and father Thomas, also owned land on Saxis Island, for on 13 Oct 1800, Nathan Linton, Sr. bought land on Saxis Island from Isaac Marshall's heirs: William Marshall and wife Janie, (Isaac) Thomas Marshall, Mary Marshall Bell and William Broughton (husband of Isaac's daughter Martha) all of Som Co, for 127 pounds (Acc Deeds 1800-1804, p. 36). The land was bordered by Pocomoke Sound, West by Benjamin Marshall and South by Thomas Fletcher and the free school marsh. Evidently (Isaac) Thomas Marshall failed to sign the above deed, for on 6 May 1820, Thomas Marshall of Som Co sold to Nathan Linton, for $60, land on "Sikeses" Island, any part he hath a rite to on the aforesaid island (Acc Deeds 1822-1824, p. 228). Torrence's "Old Somerset" p. 177 states that Isaac signed a contract to build Rehobeth Church on 7 Mar 1785 about a year before his death. In Stephen Marshall's account of Isaac's estate on 25 Oct 1791 (Som Accts Liber EB#16, pp. 494 & 641) reference is made to money due both Abraham and Benjamin Marshall of Acc Co. On 13 Oct 1800 Nathan Linton Senior from William Broughten, Mary Marshall, Jan Marshall, William Marshall and Thomas Marshall of Somerset Co: 127#'s for land on Saxis Island bounded southerly by Benjamin Marshall, by Thomas Fletcher, the freeschool marsh, to a tree at the north end of Saxis Island on Pokomoke Sound. Sarah Tilghman was the sister of Aaron Tilghman, who died testate in 1779 in Somerset Co. When Aaron wrote his 1775 will, he was the owner of land in Dobbs County, N.C. In Sarah's estate account (Som Accts Liber EB#24, p. 34, 2 Sep 1794), reference is made to money paid to Robert (Risdon?) Marshall. According to "The Tilghman Family" by Stephen Frederick Tilghman (1946), p. 256, Isaac's family settled in Dobbs County, NC in about 1774, but perhaps a different Isaac made the move. An Aaron Tillman and a George Marshall are listed sequentially in a list of North Carolina militia (Colonial Soldiers of the South by M.J. Clark, p. 641). Aaron Tillman, Michael Tillman and George Marshall were owners of adjoining land in Dobbs by 1767 (N.C. Patent Book No. 23, p. 72). Sarah's will mentioned two sons, William and Thomas Marshall and two daughters, Mary and Jean Marshall. She named her friend, Stephen Marshall, her executor. Sarah was born circa 1741 at Somerset Co, MD. She was the daughter of Gideon Tilghman Jr.. She married Isaac (200) Marshall on 17 February 1768 at Coventry Parish, Som Co, MD.2 She made a will on 28 March 1791 at Somerset Co, MD.
