     31 May 1841 "It is ordered to be certified that it appears to the Court by satisfactory proof that Elizabeth Corbin who was heretofore proved before this Court to be one of the heirs of Joseph, William and James Tunnell who served in the Virginia State Navy in the Revolutionary War has since died intestate, leaving three children, to-wit: Edward and Robert Corbin and Milky Stant, wife of Edward Stant, and that Maria Marshall, another of the heirs of the said Joseph, William and James Tunnell has also since died intestate and childless, leaving as her next of kin and heirs at Law, viz: Isaiah Tunnell, her only brother, and the said Edward and Robert Corbin and Milkey Stant, who are the only children of her deceased sister, Elizabeth Corbin" (Acc Co Orders 1840-1842, p. 246). Elizabeth was born circa 1790 at Accomack Co, VA. She was the daughter of Joseph Tunnell and Mary Abbott. She married Robert Corbin on 18 February 1809 at Accomack Co, VA.2 Elizabeth died on 27 March 1837.3

     Henry Marshall was called "son of Sampson" in 1823, when he was security on the marriage license bond for his daughter Elizabeth's marriage to Dunreath Knight. The 1800 Census lists Henry Marshall "C.T." which is assumed to be Cattail, to be age 16-26 (26) and his wife was also age 16-26 (26). There was a son under 10 (William, 4) and a female under 10 (-----). There was also another male age 16-26, which is unknown. In 1810, Henry was age 26-45 (36) and his wife was age 26-45 (36). There was also a male under 10 (Stephen, 2), a male 10-16 (William, 14), 2 females under 10 (Ann, 5 and Elizabeth, 1), and a female over 45, which is unknown. In 1820, Henry was over 45 (46) and his wife was over 45 (46). There was also a male 10-16 (Stephen, 12), a male 16-26 (William, 24), a female under 10 (Rose, 3), and 2 females 16-26 (Ann, 15 and Elizabeth, 11). He also had 2 slaves. On 24 Aug 1821 Henry Marshall mortgaged personal property to Samuel, Isaiah Sr, and John T. Johnson. They were to pay unto the heirs of Azariah Bloxom full amount of the rent for the planation whereon he (Henry) now lives being for this present year (Acc Deeds 1821-22, p. 150). Henry Marshall's personal property included: one yoke of oxen and wane and wheels and one pale red yearling heifer in her four years old, one blue safe and one weaving loom and the whole of my crop of this present year consisting of corn fodder peas beans and my brandy. In 1830, Henry was 50-60 (56) and his wife was also 50-60 (56). He had 1 slave. It is assumed by the large number of persons in the household in 1830, that his daughter Elizabeth, who had married Dunreath Knight in 1823, and her family were living with Henry. Dunreath Knight was not listed elsewhere in Acc Co. In 1840, Henry of S. was 60-70 (66) and his wife was also 60-70 (66). He had 2 slaves. There was also a male 20-30 and two females, 20-30 and 30-40. He was declared tax free on 27 May 1844, due to age and infirmity (Acc Orders 1842-45, p. 427). Henry was born circa 1772 at Accomack Co, VA.2 He was the son of Sampson Marshall Sr. and Mary 'Polly' (-----). He married Egnasha 'Nasha' Chase on 30 July 1795 at Accomack Co, VA. Nasha Chase and Henry Marshall were married by Thomas Evans. Turman's marriage book shows 18 Jul 1795, which may have been the date of the M.L.B..3,4 Henry was listed as a head of household in the census of in 1850 at Accomack Parish, Acc Co, VA. He was shown as Henry Marshall the head of HH#547, a 78 year old farmer with real estate valued at $200. Listed with him were the following Marshalls: Stephen, a 41 year old farmer; Patience, age 35; Parker, age 11; Stephen, age 9; Henry C., age 4; and Danvers J., age 2..2 He was listed as a resident in the census report in 1860 at Accomack Parish, Acc Co, VA.5 Henry died circa 1861 at Accomack Co, VA. While no record has been found of his death, he apparently died soon after 1860. His wife predeceased him, for she was not listed in his household in 1850..6

     Her common name was Nasha. Egnasha was born circa 1774 at Accomack Co, VA.3 She was the daughter of William Chase and Betty (-----). She married Henry Marshall on 30 July 1795 at Accomack Co, VA. Nasha Chase and Henry Marshall were married by Thomas Evans. Turman's marriage book shows 18 Jul 1795, which may have been the date of the M.L.B..4,5 Egnasha was named in her mother's will on 17 July 1810 at Accomack Co, VA. She was shown as a daughter Egnasha Marshall in the will of Betty Chase. Betty left a lot, estimated as 4 acres near Messongo Meeting House to her daughter Egnasha Marshall. She left directions that Henry Marshall shall bury me decently and left him the residue of her estate. On 18 June 1859, Henry Marshall who was a tenent for life, joined his son Stephen and wife Patience, his daughter Ann and husband Francis Boggs, his daughter Rosey and husband Edmond Trader, and his daughter Elizabeth "McKnight" in selling to Marcellus Small the 4 acres, except for a graveyard and right of William Marshall's heirs, near Messongo Bridge that Egnasha Marshall had heired from her mother Betty Chase in 1813 (Acc Deeds 1858-60, p. 258)..2 Egnasha died before 1850.3

     According to James H. Marshall of Florham Park, NJ, "The will of Betty Chase (dt. 1813) strongly suggests that this particular Nasha and Robert Chase were her children." Betty was born circa 1740 at Accomack Co, VA. She married William Chase circa 1760.1 Betty was named in her husband's will on 3 December 1798 at Accomack Co, VA. She was shown as wife Betty Chase in the will of William Chase..1 She made a will on 17 July 1810 at Accomack Co, VA. To daughter Egnasha Marshall my lot near Messongo Meeting House containing 4 acres & also ... To son Robert Chase ... Residue to Henry Marshall & he to bury me decently. Robert Chase Extr. William Marshall, s/o Henry, and his wife Elizabeth joined Rachel Bloxom and Alexander Ling, with his wife Rosanna Ling, in selling property of Richard Bloxom of Edgecombe Co, NC, deceased, on 14 May 1829. The deed states they were Richard Bloxom's heirs-at-law..4 William died in October 1834.5 William's estate was administered on 27 October 1834 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that John P. Drummond was named to settle the estate of William Marshall. John F. Riley & James K. Duncan were securities. On 30 May 1842, Sally Marshall chose Dunreath M. Knight, her uncle by marriage, as her guardian, and he was appointed guardian to Wm, Stephen, Narcissa and Rachel, orphans of William. On 24 Nov 1845, Rachel Marshall, orphan of William, chose Solomon J. Small as guardian, who was also appointed guardian of Wm, Narcissa, Stephen and Sally (Acc Orders 1845-48, p. 55). Dunreath M. Knight's estate was to be administered on the same day (p. 53). Nothing more has been found of these five children of William Marshall s/o Henry in Acc Co records, except Rachel Marshall (see below)..5

Knight and Elizabeth Marshall of Hessey..1 Dunreath died in November 1845 at Accomack Co, VA.2 Dunreath's estate was administered on 24 November 1845 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that Samuel T. Taylor was named to settle the estate of Dunreath M. Knight. James Northam and John W. Bird were the securities. A search of the Orders, Inventories, Fid. Accts, and Orphans Accts did not provide a list of his children..3

     It is ordered to be certified that it appears to the Court by satisfactory evidence that Sally Chase, a Pensioner of the United States died on 11 Sep 1855, and that she left the following children, viz: Robert Chase, Sally (Polly) Killman, Natia Marshall and Jane Trader (Acc Orders 1854-1857, p. 364, 25 Feb 1856). Add here the text from Acc Orders 1857-1860, p. 449, which contains a more detailed list of Sally Chase's heirs. Sarah was born circa 1768 at Accomack Co, VA.2 She married Robert Chase Sr. circa 1788.3 Sarah was listed with her husband in the census of in 1850 at Accomack Parish, Acc Co, VA.
