She was shown as Mary Hall, age 19 in HH#803 headed by Robert Marshall, a 45 year old farmer with real estate valued at $400. This was on Saxis Island..² She married John R. Tyler on 1 June 1855 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as John Tyler a 21 year old oysterman, born at Sexes Island and she was shown as Mary Hall, age 20 and born at Pig Point, the daughter of Robt.      Jane was born circa 1832 at Messongo, Acc Co, VA.² She was the daughter of Richard Hart and Nancy 'Nannie' Simpson. Jane was listed with her parents in the census of in 1850 at Accomack Parish, Acc Co, VA. She was shown as Jane Hart, age 18 in HH#985 headed by Richard Hart, a 40 year old laborer with real estate valued at $150..² She married Selby Tyler on 16 March 1855 at Accomack Co, VA. On the license, he was shown as the son of David who gave consent and Samuel T. Taylor said she was over 21. In the Register, he was shown as Selby 'Tiler' age 21 and born in Cattail and she was shown Jane Hart, age 20, born in Messongo, the daughter of Richard Hart. They were married by George H. Ewell at his residence..³ Jane was listed with her husband in the census of in 1860 at Accomack Parish, Acc Co, VA. Jane was listed with her husband in the census of in 1870 at Metompkin District, Acc Co, VA. She was shown as Jane Tyler, a 35 year old house keeper in HH#MT601 headed by Selby Tyler, a 38 year old oysterman..⁴

     George was born circa 1856 at Accomack Co, VA.^1,2 He was the son of Selby Tyler and Jane Hart. He was listed as a resident in the census report in 1860 at Accomack Parish, Acc Co, VA.¹ George was listed with his parents in the census of in 1870 at Metompkin District, Acc Co, VA. He was shown as George Tyler, a 13 year old oysterman in HH#MT601 headed by Selby Tyler, a 38 year old oysterman..² He married Mary Jack Annis circa 1885.³

     Susan was born circa 1858 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ She was the daughter of Selby Tyler and Jane Hart. She was listed as a resident in the census report in 1860 at Accomack Parish, Acc Co, VA.¹

     There were two contemporay John Marshalls on the bayside during this period. They are believed to have been first cousins, one being the son of Samuel Jr., and the other the son of Samuel's brother Sampson. This one is believed to have been the son of Sampson because his descendants have been found living in the vicinity of Messongo Creek, whereas the descendants of the other John were primarily on Saxis. One of Sampson's other sons, Henry, lived in Metompkin District and John lived in Atlantic District, although both have been found very close to the line dividing the two districts. When John married in 1802, William Cheshire, who had married Leah Marshall, believed to have been John's sister, was the security. This John Marshall's birth date, circa 1780, is based on his marriage in 1802 (22) and the 1810 Census which showed him as 26-45 (30). On 26 May 1807, his Uncle Benjamin Marshall brought a suit of debt against John, Henry and Sampson Marshall. A suit that Benjamin lost (Acc Orders 1806-07, p. 324). No record has been found of John's death. However, since he and his wife, Adah, apparently had children born as late as 1827, he seemingly died between 1827 and 1830, when Adah Marshall was the head of a household. John was born circa 1780 at Accomack Co, VA.² He was the son of Sampson Marshall Sr. and Mary 'Polly' (-----). He married Adah Marshall on 14 June 1802 at Accomack Co, VA. William Cheshire was the security on the M.L.B. of John Marshall and Adah Marshall..³ John died circa 1828.⁴

     The assumption that Adah Marshall was the daughter of Thomas is based on a process of elimination and the following facts: Thomas had a female in his household in 1800 aged 10-16 who has not been otherwise identified; Adah lived until 1872, but was not listed as a heir of Samuel in 1835, nor of Benjamin in 1832, nor of James in 1851; Abraham died without children in 1805; and her husband John was the son of Sampson. Therefore, she would have had to have been a daughter of Thomas. Her birth is estimated at 1785 based on marrying in 1802 (17), being 10-16 (15) in 1800, 26-45 (25) in 1810, 26-46 (35) in 1820, 40-50 (45) in 1830, 70 (75) in 1860, and being 97 (87) in 1872 at the time of her death. Adah died of small pox. She was a pauper of unknown parentage, according to A. Annis, who reported her death. Her husband John was in the 1810 Census, listed between Samuel Marshall and Henry Marshall. His age was 26-45 as was that of his wife. There were no sons in the household in 1810, which included 3 daughters under 10 (Henny, 3; Sallie Ann, 2; and Elizabeth, 1). In 1830 "Adah" Marshall was head of a household at age 40-50 (45). There were no males in her household and only one other female aged 10-15 (Mary Ann, 9). She was not listed in the 1840 or 1850 Census. Adah was born circa 1785 at Accomack Co, VA. The 1860 census puts her birth at 1790..² She was the daughter of Thomas Marshall and Elizabeth Miles. She married John Marshall on 14 June 1802 at Accomack Co, VA. William Cheshire was the security on the M.L.B. of John Marshall and Adah Marshall..³ Adah was listed with her daughter in the census of in 1860 at Accomack Parish, Acc Co, VA. She was shown as Ada Marshall, age 70 in HH#244 headed by Samuel Onley, a 51 year old farmer. Also listed was Elizabeth Marshall, age 51 who was evidently her daughter..² Adah was listed with another family in the cenus of in 1870 at Metompkin District, Acc Co, VA. She was shown as Ada Marshall, a 92 year old pauper, in HH#MT501 headed by George Guy, who was the stewart of the poor..⁴ Adah died on 5 August 1872 at Accomack Co, VA. She was shown as Adah Marshall, who died of small pox at the age of 97 years. She was born in Acc Co, a pauper. A. Annis gave the information. She evidently died the same day as her daughter Elizabeth Onley, both of small pox and both in the poor house together..⁵

     She was listd as "Alpha Lee" in the 1880 Census and as "Arthur" Marshall in Dryden's marriage records. She was listed as "Artha Ann" in her husband's 1948 obituary. Mrs. Artha Anna McCready, widow of Mr. John T. McCready, of Messongo, died at the home of her son, Mr. J.N. McCready, on 21 Apr 1954, aged 89 years. Burial was at Groton's Cemetery (Pen. Ent., 22 Apr 1954). Artha was born circa 1865 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ She was the daughter of Oscar R. Marshall Sr. and Drucilla Tyler. She was listed as a resident in the census report in 1880 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ She married John T. McCready on 3 January 1886 at Somerset Co, MD.² Artha was living in 1948 at Messongo, Acc Co, VA.³ Artha died on 21 April 1954.⁴ Her body was interred at Groton's Cem, Hallwood, Acc Co, VA.⁴

     Drucilla was living at Messongo, Acc Co, VA. Drucilla was born in 1866 at Accomack Co, VA.² She was the daughter of Oscar R. Marshall Sr. and Drucilla Tyler. She was listed as a resident in the census report in 1880 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ She married John D. Bull circa 1885.³ Drucilla died in 1934.² Her body was interred at Groton's Cem, Hallwood, Acc Co, VA.²

     Oscar R. Marshall Jr.'s Acc Co birth record shows his parents to be Osco and Drucilla. He and his family were living with his widowed mother, Drucilla, in 1910. Mr. Oscar R. Marshall died at his home at Messongo on 19 Jan 1957, aged 82 years. He was buried at Groton's Cemetery. Survivors were listed (Pen. Ent., 24 Jan 1957). Oscar was born on 28 February 1873 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ He was the son of Oscar R. Marshall Sr. and Drucilla Tyler. He was listed as a resident in the census report in 1880 at Accomack Co, VA.² He married Clarenda Wilkerson on 4 February 1894 at Oak Hall, Acc Co, VA.^3,4 Oscar was living in 1937 at Messongo, Acc Co, VA.⁵ Oscar died on 19 January 1957 at Messongo, Acc Co, VA, at age 83.⁶ His body was interred at Groton's Cem, Hallwood, Acc Co, VA.⁷

     On John Thomas Marshall's Acc Co birth record, he is shown as the son of Osco and Drucilla J. Marshall. Mr. John Thomas Marshall of Sanford died on 25 Dec 1963, aged 88 years. He was the son of the late Oscar and Drucilla Marshall, a lifelong resident of Sanford. Burial was in the Groton's Cemetery. Surivors were listed (Pen. Ent., 9 Jan 1914). John was born on 15 July 1875 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ He was the son of Oscar R. Marshall Sr. and Drucilla Tyler. He was listed as a resident in the census report in 1880 at Accomack Co, VA.² He married Delaney Jane 'Zany' Bull on 29 December 1897 at Accomack Co, VA.³ John was on the in 1905 roll of the at Pocomoke Meth Ch, Grotons, Acc Co, VA.⁴ John was living in 1959 at Messongo, Acc Co, VA.⁵ John died on 25 December 1963 at Sanford, Acc Co, VA, at age 88.⁶ His body was interred at Groton's Cem, Hallwood, Acc Co, VA.⁶

     William David Marshall's Acc Co birth record shows his parents as Oscoe and Prescilla. According to family members, William David Marshall, his wife Amanda and only child, Estella, were living in Chester, PA, in 1923. Mr. William D. Marshall died at his home at Makemie Park on 17 May 1959, aged 78 years. He was the son of Oscar and Drucilla Tyler Marshall, born at Makemie Park. Survivors were listed (Pen. Ent., 21 May 1959). William was born on 2 January 1881 at Makemie Park, Acc Co, VA.¹ He was the son of Oscar R. Marshall Sr. and Drucilla Tyler. He married Amanda S. Williams on 14 July 1907 at Worcester Co, MD. They lived in Belinda after their marriage and subsequently move to Chester, PA, where Will was employed in a shipyard. When he retired they moved back to Makemie Park..² He was listed as a resident in the census report in 1910 at Accomack Co, VA.³ William was living in 1937 at Marsh Market, Acc Co, VA.⁴ William died on 17 May 1959 at Makemie Park, Acc Co, VA, at age 78.⁵ His body was interred at Downing's Cem, Oak Hall, Acc Co, VA.⁶

     John was born circa 1861 at Accomack Co, VA.³ He was the son of George Riley McCready Sr. and Sarah Ann Elizabeth Bell. John was listed with his parents in the census of in 1870 at Metompkin District, Acc Co, VA. He was shown as John Mcready, age 9 in HH#MT351 headed by George Mcready, a 36 year old farmer..² He married Artha Anna Marshall on 3 January 1886 at Somerset Co, MD.³ John was on the in 1900 roll of the at Pocomoke Meth Ch, Grotons, Acc Co, VA.⁴ John was living in 1946 at Messongo, Acc Co, VA.¹ John died on 25 May 1948 at Messongo, Acc Co, VA. Mr. John T. McCready died at his home at Messongo on 25 May 1948, aged 85 years. He was buried at Groton's Cemetery, Hallwood. Survivors were listed (Pen. Ent., 28 May 1948)..⁵

     John was born in 1862 at Accomack Co, VA.² He was the son of Robert L. Bull and Sarah Jane Smith. He married Drucilla Jane Marshall circa 1885.³ John died in 1922.² His body was interred at Groton's Cem, Hallwood, Acc Co, VA.²

     Mrs. Clara Marshall, wife of Mr. Oscar Marshall, of Messongo, buried in Groton's Cemetery, survivors were listed (Pen. Ent., 23 Mar 1945). Clarenda was born on 26 November 1876 at Accomack Co, VA.² She was the daughter of Sewell R. Wilkerson and Sarah Jane 'Sally' Stant. Conflicting evidence states that Clarenda was born in 1877.³ She married Oscar R. Marshall Jr. on 4 February 1894 at Oak Hall, Acc Co, VA.^4,1 Clarenda died on 17 March 1945 at Messongo, Acc Co, VA, at age 68.⁵ Her body was interred at Groton's Cem, Hallwood, Acc Co, VA.³

     Mrs. Delaney Bull Marshall, wife of Mr. J.T. Marshall, died at her home at Messongo on 26 Aug 1961, aged 81 years. She was the daughter of Robert and Jane Bull. Survivors were listed (Pen. Ent., 31 Aug 1961). Delaney was born on 14 November 1879 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ She was the daughter of Robert L. Bull and Sarah Jane Smith. She married John Thomas Marshall on 29 December 1897 at Accomack Co, VA.² Delaney was living at Messongo, Acc Co, VA.³ Delaney died on 26 August 1961 at Messongo, Acc Co, VA, at age 81.³

     Amanda was born on 12 July 1886 at Accomack Co, VA.^2,3 She was the daughter of Jefferson Davis Williams and Susan Sally Stant. Amanda was living in 1907 at Sanford, Acc Co, VA.⁴ She married William David Marshall on 14 July 1907 at Worcester Co, MD. Richard was listed with his mother in the census of in 1850 at Accomack Parish, Acc Co, VA. He was shown as Richard Marshall, age 10 in HH#1111 headed by Ann Marshall, age 35..² He married Malinda Ambert White on 5 January 1865 at Messongo, Acc Co, VA. He was shown as Richard Marshall, a 22 year old oysterman, born and living in Messongo, the son of Anna Marshall and she was shown Belinda White, age 18, also born in living in Messongo, the daughter of William. They were married at the residence of Anna Marshall by George H. Ewell..^4,5 Richard was listed as a head of household in the census of in 1870 at Accomack Parish, Acc Co, VA. He was shown as Robert Marshall the head of HH#AT367, a 27 year old oysterman. Listed with him were Malinda Marshall, age 22 and Alfred Marshall, age 10 months..⁶ Richard was living at Messongo, Acc Co, VA.¹ Richard died on 31 October 1923 at age 80. Richard Marshall of Messongo died Wednesday, 7 Nov 1923, aged 80 years. Interment was as Knight's Cemetery. He was survived by a daughter, Mrs. Della Griffith, of Messongo; 3 sons A.L. and J.E. of Messongo and Talmage Marshall of Johnson City, TN, (Pen. Ent. 24 Nov 1923)..^3,4 Richard's will was probated in 1923 at Accomack Co, VA.⁷ His body was interred at Knight's Cem, Messongo, Acc Co, VA.⁸

     She had 11 children and only 5 lived and 6 died. Richard Talamage Marshall was the youngest. He named himself at the age of 12. Before then he was just called Babe. Malinda was born on 16 March 1848 at Messongo, Acc Co, VA.^3,4 She was the daughter of William (of J.) White and Sarah 'Sally' Riggs. Malinda was listed with her parents in the census of in 1850 at Accomack Parish, Acc Co, VA. She was shown as Malinda A. White, age 5 in HH#951 headed by Wm. White of J., a 44 year old shoemaker..² Malinda was listed with her parents in the census of in 1860 at Accomack Parish, Acc Co, VA. Elizabeth was listed with her parents in the census of in 1850 at Accomack Parish, Acc Co, VA. She was shown as Elizabeth E. White, age 20 and insane in HH#951 headed by Wm. White of J., a 44 year old shoemaker. (Note: She was listed at the bottom of the household instead of in birth order.).²

     Nancy was born circa 1819 at Accomack Co, VA.² She was the daughter of John Drummond IV and Euphemia 'Uphany or Pharney' (-----). Nancy was listed with another family in the cenus of in 1850 at Accomack Parish, Acc Co, VA. She was shown as Nancy Drummond, age 40 in HH#965 headed by Levin White, age 45, and her sister Sophia, also age 40, who had married Levin in 1836..³ She married William (of J.) White on 11 February 1853 at Accomack Co, VA. They were shown only as William White, widower, and Nancy Drummond. No other information was given..⁴ Nancy was listed with her husband in the census of in 1860 at Accomack Parish, Acc Co, VA. She was shown as Nancy White, age 41 in HH#332 headed by William White, a 55 year old shoemaker..² Nancy was listed with her husband in the census of in 1870 at Metompkin District, Acc Co, VA. She was shown as Nancy White, a 53 year old house keeper in HH#MT594 headed by William White, a 63 year old shoemaker..⁵ Nancy died circa 1875. She was not in the 1880 census HH#290 with William White, a 68 year old shoemaker..⁶

     He is shown as Alfred on his Acc Co birth record. Albert L. Marshall and his brother-in-law Jim Griffith, built Washington L. Trader's home in Oak Hall, VA, in 1910. A.L. Marshall and his brother James E. Marshall, both of Messongo, were witnesses along with M.E. Witham to the will of Daniel B. Marshall, who died testate in 1911. Mr. Albret Lee Marshall of Grotons died in Leroy Stant's store on 13 Jan 1955, aged 85 years. He was the son of the late Richard T. and Malinda White Marshall. Burial was in Downing's Cemetery. Survivors were listed (Pen. Ent., 20 Jan 1955). Albert was born on 15 October 1872 at Accomack Co, VA.² He was the son of Richard Thomas Marshall and Malinda Ambert White. He was listed as a resident in the census report in 1880 at Accomack Co, VA.³ He married Rachael Evelyn 'Lena' Killmon on 8 December 1897 at Hallwood, Acc Co, VA.⁴ Albert was living in 1947 at Grotons, Acc Co, VA.⁵ Albert died on 13 January 1955 at Grotons, Acc Co, VA, at age 82.^6,2 His body was interred at Downing's Cem, Oak Hall, Acc Co, VA.⁷

     Melinda Griffith Ennis reports that he was never married. Alexander was born on 3 February 1874 at Accomack Co, VA.^2,3 He was the son of Richard Thomas Marshall and Malinda Ambert White. He was listed as a resident in the census report in 1880 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ Alexander was living at Messongo, Acc Co, VA. Alexander died on 29 August 1911 at age 37.^2,3 His body was interred at Knight's Cem, Messongo, Acc Co, VA.⁴
