Asa was listed with his parents in the census of in 1860 at Accomack Parish, Acc Co, VA. Asa J. Bundick, age 3, was in the 1860 Acc Parish HH#798 with his parents, William J. and Elizabeth S. Bundick. He would have lacked a few weeks of being 4 years old when he greeted the Union troops in 1861.. Asa was listed with his parents in the census of in 1870 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as age 12.. Asa was listed with his parents in the census of in 1880 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as age 22 and a carpenter. He likely worked with his grandfather Asa Baker to learn his trade.. Asa bought land on 14 February 1883 at Nelsonia, Acc Co, VA. The deed showed that he bought 1/2 acre from Spencer R. Nelson and his wife for $20. This was a lot in Nelsonia, across the road on the north from his father's farm, for it was bordered on the south "by the Public Road from Modest Town to Guilford (via Hell Town)." Apparently he built a home here but rented it for a few years, for his oldest son was born in Onancock in early 1887..3 He married Carrie Lee Lewis on 5 December 1883 at Accomack Co, VA. They were married by A.J. Walter. Asa was age 26 and a carpenter and Carrie was age 19..4 Asa bought land on 25 November 1886 at Onancock, Acc Co, VA. It was located on the diagonally opposite corner from Asa's father's farm, at the main intersection at Nelsonia..7 Asa land was surveyed on 15 June 1900 at Nelsonia, Acc Co, VA. The deed showed that Asa J. Bundick bought 59 acres near Nelsonia for $1,800. This was land north of Nelsonia at Buzzard Hill, "land which Mary A. Bloxom died seized" and was bordered on the south and southeast by Benjamin Parks and Asa T. Bundick..9 Asa bought land on 29 July 1901 at Nelsonia, Acc Co, VA. The deed showed that Asa J. Mears and wife Mary A., for $600. He then own the entire John J. Bloxom farm, but never lived there. It is believed that this land once belonged to Asa J. Bundick's grandfather and namesake, Asa Baker, and that the latter was buried there. A graveyard has been found on the property and it contains two small stones, which look like foot stones, one labeled A.B. (for Asa Baker) and the other T.B. (for Tabitha Baker, his second wife).
