Bridget (-----)

F, b. circa 1740
Bridget, the wife named in John Abbott Bundick's will, dated 13 Jul 1780, was his second wife as shown by a deed of 3 Mar 1791, when Bridget and her next husband, William Nock, released her dower interest in land John Abbott Bundick's son George sold, saying she had intermarried with "aforesaid George's father" (Acc Co Deeds, 1788-1793, p. 469a). Had she been George's mother, this deed would have been worded differently. William Gibb was the security on the 1784 Acc Co M.L.B. of William Nock and Bridget Bundick. On 27 Apr 1791, William Nock and wife Bridget joined William Bundick and wife Agnes in selling their 54 acres "Robins Hold" to Crippen Taylor (Acc Co Deeds, 1788-1793, p. 470). John Abbott Bundick, Junr sold his interest in the same land on the same day (Acc Co Deeds, 1788-1793, p. 471). Bridget was born circa 1740. She married John Abbott Bundick Sr. circa 1760.1 Bridget was living on 13 July 1780 at Accomack Co, VA.1 She married William Nock on 30 November 1784 at Accomack Co, VA.2

On 20 Dec 1779, George Bundick of Metompkin bought 75 acres of land from Elizabeth Warrington, of Northampton County, "one-half that tract of land on the Sea Board in Parish and County of Accomack formerly the Right of a Certain Stephen Warrington deceased grandfather of said Elizabeth, 2500 pounds current money" (Acc Co Deeds, 1777-1783, p. 200). On 3 Mar 1791, George Bundick and wife Ann sold to Susannah Nock, for 100 pounds, 50 acres "on Assawoman," land George and Ann got from "late Tabitha Warrington where George Warrington deceased lived" (Acc Co Deeds, 1788-1793, p. 508). On 28 Jul 1806, George and Nancy Bundick "of Metompkin" deeded to John A. Bunting, "son of George and Nancy (John A. Bundick of Drummond town)," for 1 shilling, 100 acres of land near Assawoman (Acc Co Deeds, 1804-1807, p. 622). This deed continues by saying George and Nancy owned this land "in the right of Nancy," giving the names of adjacent owners as Thomas Abbott, John Teackle Senr, Ayres Tatham and John Finney, and by stating that they, George and Ann, were to have the use of the land for their lifetime and after their death it was for the "benefit of George Warrington Bundick, a younger son not 21 years as yet", and if he should die, for their younger daughters Tabitha and Nancy. After son John A. Bundick of Drummond Town died in 1816, apparently this land reverted back to his parents for, on 17 Feb 1817, George Bundick Senr deeded to George Bundick Junr, for 10 shillings, 150 acres, bound by the heirs of John Finney, by Ayres Tatham, by Thomas Abbott, deceased, and by Arthur Watson (Acc Co Deeds, 1817-1818, p. 18). The extra 50 acres was likely Elizabeth Warrington's part of the George Warrington land. George Bundick's name appears on the 1784 tax list, when he was taxed 7 pounds 3 pence for his real property and 2 pounds 18 shillings 3 pence for personal property. He owned 4 slaves, 3 of whom were under sixteen years of age, 3 horses, 9 cattle and 2 "wheels." There were two other George Bundicks listed in 1784, one the son of Richard Bundick "Clk" (this was Richard Bundick of the Robins Hole and Parksley area) and George Bundick, son of Richard Bundick (IV) (Piper) of the Gargatha area. The 1800 census lists one George Bundick with "Mkn" after his name. By this time, there were four George Bundicks in Accomack Parish. George Bundick of Metompkin, in 1800, was over 45 years of age. He had a son of 16 to 26 and another son under 10 years. His wife was 26 to 45 and there were four other females in his household, one under 10, two 10 to 16 and one 16 to 26. George Bundick of Metompkin owned no slaves in 1800, but there were ten free blacks in his household. In 1810, George Bundick was again over 45, with a son between 10 and 16 and two females aged 16 to 26, plus four free blacks. Apparently wife Nancy Warrington Bundick died between 1806 and 1810 and his younger daughters were keeping house for him and his younger son. On 15 Feb 1817, George Bundick Senr, "sea side" and Milly his wife, sold to Thomas Cropper 200 acres for $4,000, the "tract of land and plantation whereon Daniel Baker now lives" (Acc Co Deeds, 1815-1817, p. 515). This land was bound on the north by "Alicado" Creek and was the 200-acre part of the original Richard Bundick patent of 1664. George Bundick Senr reserved the family graveyard and, in another deed, was to get $200 each year for life and $2,480 at his death "for his children" (Acc Co Deeds, 1815-1817, p. 516/7). This family graveyard is no longer in existences. It is apparent that George Bundick of Metompkin did not live on Assawoman Creek on the Warrington land. It seems equally certain he was not living on his inherited 200 acres in Parkers Neck, at least when he sold it in 1817, or afterwards. No record has been found of him buying land elsewhere. George Bundick wrote his will on 27 Nov 1819 and it was recorded on 28 Dec 1819. It was a short will. He did not mention his wife or his daughters. He loaned his real and personal property to his son, George W. Bundick, and at his death "to my grandson, John A. Bundick" (Acc Co Wills 1819-1821, p. 129). A complete transcription of the will of George Bundick of Metompkin follows - In the name of God Amen, I, George Bundick being low in health but of good and sound mind and memory doth make and this instrument of wrighting to be my Last Will and Testament. [Item] I lend to my son George -- Bundick --- my real and personal Estate and at his death I give to my grandson John Bundick it to him and his heirs forever. In testimony whereof I have unto set my hand and seal this 27 day of November 1819. I here by nominate and appoint my friend William Copes and my son George W. Bundick Executors to this my Last Will and Testament In witness whereof I have set my hand and affixed my seal this 27 Day of November 1819. (Signed by his X mark and seal) George Bundick. (Witnesses:) Elijah Hickman(?), Stephen Hickman, John F. Only (Acc Co Wills, 1819-1821, p. 129). George was born circa 1745 at Accomack Co, VA. He was the son of John Abbott Bundick Sr. and Elizabeth Satchell. He married Ann 'Nancy|Nanney' Warrington circa 1775.2 George was living on 13 July 1780 at Accomack Co, VA.1 He married Milly Hickman on 15 December 1815 at Accomack Co, VA.3 George died in 1819.4 George's will was probated on 28 December 1819 at Accomack Co, VA.4

In his will, dated 31 Oct 1795, William Bundick named a wife Agnes; 3 sons Lewis, George and William; and an unborn child. To wife Agnes Bundick whole estate during her widowhood to bring up my 3 children Lewis, George and William. Unborn child to be brought up and educated as my other children. At the death of my wife estate to be equally divided between my 3 sons above named and unborn child. Wife to be executrix. Witnesses were George Wright, Major Hinmon and Charles Stockly (Acc Co Wills &c., 1794-96, p. 257). It appears his widow died soon after the birth of her fourth child, for on 26 December 1796, William's brother, George Bundick, was named to administer the estate of Agnes Bundick (Acc Co Orders, 1796-98, p. 158). William was born circa 1755 at Accomack Co, VA. He was the son of John Abbott Bundick Sr. and Elizabeth Satchell.
