Riley were given marsh on the south side of Guilford Creek, but his share was only during his life..5 He married Leah C. Riley after 6 December 1823 at Accomack Co, VA.5,3 Nathaniel was listed as a head of household in the census of in 1850 at St. George Parish, Acc Co, VA. He was shown as Nath'l Topping the head of HH#1166, a 57 year old farmer with real estate valued at $10,000. Listed with him were Leah C. Topping, age 62; Jno. W.H. Parker, a 31 year old lawyer; Sarah A.S. Parker, age 22; and Susan Parker, age 1..6 Nathaniel died on 20 July 1866 at age 73.1 His body was interred at Oatlands Cem, Onancock, Acc Co, VA. His tombstone shows him as Nathaniel S. Topping, the son of Garret & Scarburgh Topping..1
