William was born circa 1656 at Accomack Co, VA. He was the son of Col. John Wise Sr. and Hannah [6] Scarburgh. William died in 1745.1 William's estate was administered on 26 November 1745 at Accomack Co, VA. Meyer & Dorman report that his son John Wise was granted administration on his estate on 2 Nov 1745. Nottingham shows that administration of his estate was to his father John Wise on 26 Nov 1745, with Isaac Smith as security. Both quote Acc Co Order Book 1744-53, p. 92 as their source. Jennings Cropper Wise reports that William Wise, second son of Col. John Wise and Hannah Scarburgh, died intestate in 1747 and that his estate was appraised by George Parker, John Bagly, and James Bonnewell on August 25, 1747. He inherited about 400 acres of his father's estate on Chesconnessex Creek, being that part nearest Onancock, and on April 21, 1690, he patented a tract of 101 acres of land in Pocoson Parish, York County. It does not appear that he ever resided on the Western Shore. He had two sons, John and William II., to whom he deeded his land on October 3, 1732. Jennings Cropper Wise also reports that his son John Wise married Mary Bonnewell and his son William Wise married Sarah Bonnewell, both daughters of James Bonnewell and Mary Watson, neighbors..1,2,3
