     Will Bk 4, p. 245, lists William B. Minter Jr's nephew as Pendleton G. Minter. His executor was C.S. Minter. Also named were Mrs. Georgie Corey of Portsmouth and Mary L. Van Slooten (Judith Bailey Bickley). Frederic was born on 1 October 1860 at Norfolk Co, VA.² He was the son of William B. Minter Sr. and Mary Eliza (-----). Frederic died in May 1916 at Norfolk Co, VA, at age 55.¹

     In his will, written 27 Aug 1813, John Griffin Sr. named a wife Elizabeth; sons William, John and Thomas; and daughters Elizabeth, Polly and Charlotte. The executor was John Williamson (Princess Anne Co, VA, Will Bk 3, p. 88). John was born circa 1760.      Bartlett McClenahan and John Williamson gave the bond for the 1815 Princess Anne Co, VA, marriage of Elizabeth Griffin, widow, and Bartlett McClenahan. The marriage was conducted by Rev. George Norris. Elizabeth was born circa 1770. She married John Griffin Sr. circa 1790.¹ Elizabeth was living in 1813 at Princess Anne Co, VA.² She married Bartlett McClenahan on 25 March 1815 at Princess Anne Co, VA.³

     William was born circa 1794 at Virginia. He was the son of John Griffin Sr. and Elizabeth (-----). William was living in 1813.¹

     Thomas was born circa 1796 at Virginia. He was the son of John Griffin Sr. and Elizabeth (-----). Thomas was living in 1813.¹

     In his will, written 1 Dec 1814, Richard Stone mentioned a wife, but not by name, and a son John Stone, deceased, and daughters Elizabeth Murden, Sally, Jacamin and Peggy Stone. Witnesses were Caleb Land, Penny Land, Nancy Land. His property was appraised for $208.19 on 8 Nov 1821 (Appr. Bk 1821, p. 10). John Griffin bought many items at the sale. Richard was born circa 1760. Richard died in 1821.¹ Richard's will was probated on 3 December 1821 at Princess Anne Co, VA.¹

Mary was named in her grandmother's will on 23 November 1827 at Accomack Co, VA. She was shown as a granddaughter Molly Baker and given one iron pot in the will of Jemima Baker..³ She married Samuel A. Justice on 10 August 1842 at Accomack Co, VA. They were shown only as Samuel A. Justice and Molly Mears..⁴ Mary was named in her mother's will on 9 November 1846 at Accomack Co, VA. She was shown as a daughter Molly in the will of Peggy Mears..¹ Mary was listed as a head of household in the census of in 1850 at Accomack Parish, Acc Co, VA. She was shown as Mary Justice the head of HH#462, age 28 with real estate valued at $450. Listed with her were Samuel Justice, age 3 and Nancy M. Mears, age 21, who was evidently her sister..² Mary was listed as a head of household in the census of in 1860 at Accomack Parish, Acc Co, VA. She was shown as Molly Justice the head of HH#733, a 40 year old seamstress with real estate valued at $400 and personal property valued at $200. Listed with her were Arthur Justice, age 4; Hetty Mears, a 35 year old seamstress; Letitia S. Mears, age 8; and Henry W. Mears, age 2. (NOTE: Hetty Mears was her sister.).⁵ Mary was listed as a head of household in the census of in 1870 at Metompkin District, Acc Co, VA. She was shown as Mollie Justice the head of HH#MT156, a 51 year old house keeper with real estate valued at $200 and presonal property valued at $100. Listed with her were Arthur Justice, a 14 year old farm laborer and Alicia Mears, age 17 and keeping house. (Note: Alicia was the daughter of her sister Hetty.).⁶

     Rose was born circa 1810 at Accomack Co, VA. She was the daughter of Dennis Bloxom and Henrietta 'Henny' Garrett. Rose was named in her grandmother's will on 23 May 1813 at Accomack Co, VA. She was shown as a granddaughter Roseanne Bloxom, daughter of Henny Bloxom, in the will of Nancy Garret..¹ She married Samuel A. Justice on 20 May 1834 at Accomack Co, VA. Samuel Wright was the security on the Acc Co M.L.B. of Samuel A. Justice and Rose Ann Bloxom of Dewey..²

     According to the City Directory, John P. Minter lived on Court Street, Portsmouth, VA, in 1877. John was born circa 1817 at Matthews Co, VA. He was the son of William Minter and Judith (-----). John was living in 1877 at Portsmouth, VA.¹

     James was born circa 1803 at Matthews Co, VA. He was the son of William Minter and Judith (-----). He married Lucy (-----) circa 1825.²

     Lucy was born circa 1805. She married James Minter circa 1825.¹

     In his will, Miles W. Minter named a wife Emma, Miss Virgie Armistead Whilly, Maria Jane Myers of Portsmouth, Robert Minter Ferguson, Jane Collier Collins. Executors were John P. Minter and Robert Minter Ferguson (Norfolk Co Will Bk 3, p. 84). The Portsmouth City Directory listed his address as 440 High Street and in 1877 it listed him and William B. Johnson as undertakers (Judith Bailey Bickley). Miles was born in 1810 at Matthews Co, VA.¹ He was the son of William Minter and Judith (-----). He married Emma Dyson circa 1835 at Norfolk Co, VA.² Miles died on 24 February 1899 at Norfolk Co, VA.¹ His body was interred at Cedar Grove Cem', Portsmouth, VA.¹

     Emma (Dyson) Minter's will is recorded in Norfolk Co, VA, Will Bk 4, p. 14 (Judith Bailey Bickley). Emma was born in 1816.¹ She married Miles W. Minter Sr. circa 1835 at Norfolk Co, VA.² Emma was living in 1899.¹ Emma died in July 1907.¹ Her body was interred at Cedar Grove Cem', Portsmouth, VA.¹

     (d|o_Wm.) was born in 1820 at Matthews Co, VA. She was the daughter of William Minter and Judith (-----). She married (-----) Ferguson circa 1840.² (d|o_Wm.) died before 1899.¹

     (-----) was born circa 1820. He married (d|o_Wm.) Minter circa 1840.¹

     Robert was born circa 1842. He was the son of (-----) Ferguson and (d|o_Wm.) Minter. Robert was living in 1899.¹

     He lived on Effingham Street in downtown Portsmouth, was born in Matthews Co, VA, died at age 61 years, 6 months and 2 days of heart disease. He was a blacksmith (Norfolk Co, VA, Death Register). Hugh was born in 1828 at Matthews Co, VA. He was the son of James Minter and Lucy (-----). He married Mary A. (-----) circa 1850.² Hugh died on 21 January 1890 at Norfolk Co, VA.¹

     Mary was born circa 1830. She married Hugh H. Minter circa 1850.¹
