There were two contemporary John Marshalls on the bayside during this period. They are believed to have been first cousins, one being the son of Samuel Jr. and the other being the son of Samuel Jr.'s brother Sampson. This one has been judged the son of Samuel because he and his descendants lived on Saxis Island, among the other descendants of Samuel. John would have been the male in Samuel's household in the 1800 census, aged 16-26. John's wife was shown as Hessy on his son Robert's second marriage record. He would have married circa 1800, but no marriage record has been found. The 1820 census lists a John Marshall between Samuel and James (both residents of Saxis), as over 45 years of age. He then had two males in his household under 10 years and two 10-16 years. It is not known when John Marshall died. If he was listed in the 1830 census, his name could not be distinguished from the seaside Marshalls of the same name. He was deceased when his father died in 1835 (Acc Orders 1851-54, p102). John Marshall had four sons (1820 census). John was born circa 1775 at Accomack Co, VA.2,3 He was the son of Samuel (196) Marshall Jr. and Triffinoh (-----). He married Hester 'Hessy' (-----) circa 1800.4 He was listed as a resident in the census report in 1820 at Accomack Parish, Acc Co, VA.3 John died before 1835.5

George William Marshall is listed as George W. in the 1860 Census, but as William in all later census records, 1870 thru 1920. He is also listed as George W. on his marriage record to Ann E. Ewell, which listed him as the son of Robert and Maria Marshall and as an oysterman. His grandson Roland Marshall believed him to be William R. Marshall, known as "Bill." His obituaries (both) listed him as William R. Marshall. He was with his parents in 1860 (age 5 months) and 1870 (age 9). In 1880 he was a boarder with Parker Miles and his daughter Elizabeth Corbin, both of whom were widowed. William was an oysterman. In 1900 he was the head of a household on Saxis, age 40, born Dec 1859, an oysterman with a wife Lizzie and two children. Also boarding with William was John H. Justice, age 72, widiowed, and an oysterman. In 1910 William was again the head of a household on Saxis, with his wife Elizabeth and two children and a son-in-law Mury Martin living with him. In 1920 he was again the head of a household with his wife Lizzie and his daughter Rachel, her husband Muria Martin and their two children Lesslie and Margaret living with him. His son Willie was living next door. William R. Marshall died at his home on Saxis, Wednesday, 14 Oct 1931, aged 69 years (b.c. 1862). Survivors were listed (Pen. Ent., 17 Oct 1931).
