Margaret E.S. Bundick inherited Goshen and Seaview farms from her grandfather, John D. Parks, when he died testate in 1877 (Acc Co Wills, 1846-1882, p. 564). Both of these farms were a part of the original Richard Bundick patent in Parkers Neck (Whitelaw, p. 1135). Margaret wrote her will on 24 November 1914 and it was probated on 4 January 1934. She had no children but had raised her half brother and sisters. She left her land to her four Byrd nephews, children of her sister, Mary Virginia Bundick Byrd. She directed that her executor place an iron railing "around my family burying ground on the John A. Bundick Farm near Metompkin and also to place tombstones to the unmarked graves of my relatives who are buried therein - not to exceed $500." She left "to my sister, Annie J. Wright, wife of W. T. Wright, all that part of the John A. Bundick farm situated near Metompkin on which the main settlement of said farm is located," lying to the eastward and northeast of the western side of the burying ground, starting at the county road. she also left this sister her wardrobe, her trunk and its contents, and her jewelry. She named two nieces as Helen Wright and Annie Eggers (Acc Co Wills, Book 22, p. 450). Margaret was born in 1845 at Accomack Co, VA.2 She was the daughter of John A. Bundick and Elizabeth B. Parks. John A. Bundick's tombstone, in a family plot north of route 666, now Foxgrove Road, and 1 mile east of U.S. route 13 at Zion Church, states that he died on 9 Nov 1872 at 55 years 9 months 7 days. Therefore, he was born 2 February 1817, the elder son of George W. Bundick and Elizabeth Hickman Bundick. He would have been only two years of age when his grandfather George Bundick of Metompkin, died in 1819, naming John A. to get his property after the death of his son, George W. Bundick, who died intestate in 1855, when John A. would have been thirty eight years old. John A. Bundick could not have inherited any of his grandfather Bundick's real estate, for it had been sold. It has been shown that he and his brother inherited 22.23 acres of their grandfather Richard Hickman's land in 1830 and John A. bought his brother's half of this in 1842. Since this land was located on the east side of the sea side road, according to the deed of 1830 and was bordered in 1842 on the north, northeast and southeast by lands of George P. Barnes, Junr and southwest by Parker Grinnalds, it appears to have been located northeast of the intersection of Metompkin Road and Foxgrove Roads behind Zion Church. On 29 August 1845, John A. Bundick bought 33 acres adjacent his other land, "of which Parker Grinnell's died seized", from special commissioners, William J. Bayly and Major Mason Junr, for $520 (Acc Co Deeds, 1844-1846, p. 431). George W. Bundick sold to son John A. Bundick on 26 Mar 1852, 1 acre for $25, "situated upon "Metompkin," bordered northeast and southeast by William P. Barnes, southwest by the heirs of Parker Grinnalds, deceased, "now said John A. Bundick" and northeast and north "by aforesaid John A. Bundick" (Acc Co Deeds, 1851-1853, p. 348). John A. Bundick bought 48 acres near News Town (Metompkin) called Colonna Land on 5 Jan 1858 (Acc Co Deeds, 1855-1858, p. 667). On 31 Dec 1868, he bought a store-house and "Grain House" for $476.23, at Metompkin, the buildings on opposite sides of the Stage Road from Drummond Town to Horntown (Acc Co Deeds, 1867-1869, p. 614). John A. Bundick bought 14 acres near News Town bordered southeast by his other land and west by the county road, for $550.75, on 16 Jun 1869 (Acc Co Deeds, 1867-1869, p. 796). He then owned an 118-acre tract, bordered on the west by present Metompkin Road and on the southeast by the road into Parkers Neck and located within a mile of his ancestors' land there. The 1850 census shows John A. Bundick as a 33-year-old merchant. His wife, Elizabeth B. Bundick, was 23 and they had a 5-year-old daughter, Margaret E. S. Bundick. By 1860, John A. Bundick, a 43-year-old merchants had lost his first wife. His household included only his two daughters by his first marriage: Sally (Margaret E.S.) at 15 and Mary V. at 4 years. In 1870, John A. Bundick was a 52-year-old merchant. His second wife, Annie, was 29. His two older daughters, Sallie and Virginia were 23 and 14. He had four other children by 1870: Grace at 7 years, Annie at 5, John at 3, and baby Kate at 3 months. John A. Bundick wrote his will on 19 Jul 1871 and it was recorded on 25 Nov 1872. He left his property to his six children and did not name his wife or his land. His widow Annie Hickman Bundick's four children from 10 to 16 years of age, were living with their elder half-sister Sallie Byrd and her husband in 1880. A complete transcription of the will of John A. Bundick follows - In the name of God amen, I, John A.
