     Mr. Frank Fletcher Linton, formerly of Sanford, now of Newport News, died on 7 Feb 1943, aged 42 years, buried at Feddeman Cemetery, survivors were listed (Pen. Ent., 12 Feb 1943). A native of Saxis and a barber. Services were at the Sanford Methodist Church by Rev. Bryan (E.S. News, 12 Feb 1943). Evidently he was moved from the Feddeman Cemetery as his is now buried at Downing's Cemetery. Frank was born in 1900 at Saxis, Acc Co, VA.2 He was the son of William T. Linton and Sarah Jane 'Sally' Darby.      The parents of this Samuel Stant are unproven. In the 1850, 1860 and 1870 census his was the only Stant family living in St. Georges Parish, either right after or with the Tangier Island listing. Gail Walczyk reports that he was on the lower part of Smith Island, which is in Acc Co, VA. All the other Stant's were living in Accomack Parish in the Sanford area. His middle initial "J." in from his son Severn's 1875 marriage record. Samuel was born circa 1824 at Accomack Co, VA.2 He was the son of Samuel Stant and Sally Fisher. He married Maria Jane Crockett Crockett? circa 1845.3 Samuel was listed as a head of household in the census of in 1850 at St. George Parish, Acc Co, VA. He was shown as Sam'l Stant the head of HH#1284, age 26 and a sailor, born in VA. Living with him were Susan Stant, age 24; Henna (female), age 4; and Thomas, age 2. This was probably the southern tip of Smith Island that was in Virginia.
