     Rose Marie Smith, the 5 month old daughter of Clement and Hattie Smith of Sanford, died on 29 Jan 1940. Services were 31 Jan by Revs C.C. Elzey and Forrest, with interment in the Drummond Cemetery. Survivors included her parents and grandparents, who were named (E.S. News, 2 Feb 1940). Her tombstone is now at Groton's Cemetery with her parents. Rose was born on 27 August 1939 at Sanford, Acc Co, VA.¹ She was the daughter of Clement Smith and Hattie Collins.
