     Dorothy was born on 4 August 1695 at Accomack Co, VA. George Y. Scarburgh reports that the family Bible shows 24 Nov 1715..^2,3 She was the daughter of Francis Wainhouse (I) and Margaret (-----). She married Mitchell [35] Scarburgh I on 24 November 1715 at Accomack Co, VA.^4,3 Dorothy was named in her husband's will on 27 September 1762 at Accomack Co, VA.⁵ She made a will on 20 July 1775 at Accomack Co, VA. She named a daughter Sarah Johnson; grandsons Andrew Steward and Henry Custis (Henry under 21); Americus Scarburgh, John Scarburgh, Elizabeth Steward, Sarah Scarburgh Thorowgood, Dorothy Wainhouse Walker, and Sarah Steward, whose relationships were not stated. Americus Scarburgh was to have the use of her negro boy Babel until her grandson Henry Custis arrives to the age of 21 years, then to grandson Henry Custis and in case of his death before lawful age to Americus Scarburgh. Daughter Sarah Johnson was a residuary legatee and the executrix. Witnesses were Caleb Teackle and Adah Jacob. (Note: Since part of the list of named persons without noted relationships were her known children as stated in her husband's will, it is assumed that the others were also her children or grandchildren.).⁶ Dorothy died in August 1775 at Accomack Co, VA.⁶ Dorothy's will was probated on 29 August 1775 at Accomack Co, VA.⁶

     Edmund was born on 19 August 1716 at Accomack Co, VA.² He was the son of Mitchell [35] Scarburgh I and Dorothy Wainhouse. He married Mary (-----) circa 1735.³ Edmund was named in his father's will on 27 September 1762 at Accomack Co, VA. He was named as son Edmund in the will of Mitchell Scarburgh..⁴ He made a will on 4 February 1764 at Accomack Co, VA. He named a wife Mary; John Scarburgh the under age son of Americus Scarburgh; sisters Sarah Scarburgh and Mary Stewart; Rosanna Bayly (relationship not noted); and cousin Susanna Stuart. The land purchased of William Read was to be sold and 1/3 of proceeds to his wife. His wife was to have land at Pungoteague till John Scarburgh comes to lawful age. Balance of money from sale of land was to be divided between my sister Sarah Scarburgh, Rosanna Bayly and sister Mary Stewart's children. His Pungoteague land was to go to John Scarburgh, son of Americus Scarburgh. His wife Mary was named the executrix. Witnesses were Henry Gascoyne, William Cascoyne and Teackle Waltham. (Note: It is assumed that the named Rosanna Bayly was the daughter of his sister Dorothy who had been married to Edmund Bayly, according to his father's will.).⁵ Edmund died in April 1764 at Accomack Co, VA, at age 47.⁵ Edmund's will was probated on 24 April 1764 at Accomack Co, VA. Mary Scarburgh, widow of the testator, refused to qualify, so Americus Scarburgh qualifed..⁵

     Mary was born circa 1715 at Accomack Co, VA. She married Edmund Scarburgh circa 1735.¹ Mary was living in 1764.²

     Mitchell was born on 18 November 1718 at Accomack Co, VA.² He was the son of Mitchell [35] Scarburgh I and Dorothy Wainhouse. Mitchell was named in his father's will on 27 September 1762 at Accomack Co, VA. He was named as son Mitchel Scarburgh in the will of Mitchel Scarburgh..¹ He made a will on 19 February 1764 at Accomack Co, VA. He named a brother Americus Scarburgh; a sister Sarah Scarburgh; cousins Mitchell Thorowgood, Scarburgh Stewart, and Sarah Scarburgh. Also named were Edmund Reed, but no relationship was given. Americus Scarburgh was named executor and was the residuary legatee. Witnesses were Henry Scarburgh, Elizabeth Scarburgh and Susanna Parker..³ Mitchell died on 12 March 1764 at on Taskmaker's Ck, Wicomico River, N'humberland Co, VA, at age 45. An entry in a Scarburgh family Bible reads: "Mitchell Scarburgh, Jr. departed this life in March between the 12th and the 16th in 1764, being uncertain of the day; he went from Pungoteague the 12th in a cainow, and by misfortune was drowned, over at Wicocomoco, and was found on the 16th.".⁴ His body was interred. Under a little cluster of trees, near the margin of Taskmaker's Creek, in Northumberland, on an upright marble headpiece with no other tomb or grave visible, appears the following inscription: "In Memory of Mitchell Scarburgh, Who was born 1718 and died 1764".⁴ Mitchell's will was probated on 27 March 1764 at Accomack Co, VA.³

     Americus was born on 17 September 1723 at Accomack Co, VA.³ He was the son of Mitchell [35] Scarburgh I and Dorothy Wainhouse. He married Sarah Yeardley (198) West on 24 October 1749 at Accomack Co, VA.^4,3,5 He married Comfort (97) West circa 1765.^4,6 He made a will on 10 July 1773 at Accomack Co, VA. To wife my slaves & etc. To son Americus. To son John. Balance of estate to wife during her widowhood and then divided between my 2 sons Edmund and Charles. Son Americus to have the tuition of my 2 youngest sons and their estates. Son Americus executor. Not witnessed.
