Collins and Mr. & Mrs. E.T. Smith (E.S. News, 9 Aug 1929). Bettie was born in July 1929.¹ She was the daughter of William Vernon T. Collins Sr. and Madeline C. Smith.      William was born in 1882.¹ He married Ethel O. Webster circa 1915.^1,2 William was living at Messongo, Acc Co, VA.³ William died on 22 August 1929 at Hallwood, Acc Co, VA. W.L. Spencer and Samuel J. Griffith, both aged 49 years and residences of Messongo, were instantly killed at the PA RR crossing at Hallwood Thursday morning at 5:35 a.m. A Ford touring car, was driven by Mr. Griffith, the owner. Mr. Spencer is to be buried in the Lewis Cemetery, survivors were listed (E.S. News, 23 Aug 1929). Contrary to this obituary, most locals remember that the accident was at Horsey, not Hallwood. Evidently he was moved, as he his now at Downing's Cemetery with his wife Ethel, who died in 1957..³ His body was interred at Downing's Cem, Oak Hall, Acc Co, VA.¹

     Ethel was born in 1901 at Sanford, Acc Co, VA.² She was the daughter of John R. Webster and Addie E. Marshall. She married William Lester Spencer Sr. circa 1915.^2,3 She married Noah Edward 'Parker' Miles after 1929.³ Ethel died in 1957.² Her body was interred at Downing's Cem, Oak Hall, Acc Co, VA.²

     Evelyn was born in 1897.³ She was the daughter of Wesley S. Miles and Annie E. Taylor. She married Harry T. Thornton circa 1915.⁴ Evelyn was living in 1930.¹ Evelyn died in 1980.^5,3 Her body was interred at Nelson's Cem, MD-VA line, Acc Co, VA.³

     Harry was born in 1892 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ He was the son of William Thomas Thornton Jr. and Sarah Frances Ross. He married Evelyn Miles circa 1915.² Harry was named as an heir in 1930 at Accomack Co, VA. According to Mary Frances Carey, a list of heirs shows William T. Thornton was survived by a wife Sarah Frances Thornton and 5 children: Leroy Thornton, age 40; Harry T. Thornton, age 38; Mary Hall, wife of Stuart Hall, age 33; Wm. T.
