Mr. Luther Bates Linton of Saxis died on 12 Jan 1958, aged 56 years. He was the son of James and Georgianna Wessells Linton, born and reared at Saxis. Survivors were listed (Pen. Ent., 16 Jan 1958).      Augustus Martin is mentioned as a surviving brother of Edward Martin in 1938, of Jessie Thomas Martin in 1944 and of James Martin in 1950. Mr. John A. Martin of Saxis died at the home of his daughter, Miss Dora Martin, at Bloxom on 15 May 1960, aged 87 years. Survivors were listed (Pen. Ent., 17 Mar 1960). According to the 1870 Census, he was born circa 1865, and therefore would have been aged 95 years. There are no dates on his tombstone. John was born circa 1865 at Accomack Co, VA.² He was the son of George Martin and Elizabeth Russell. He was listed as a resident in the census report in 1870 at Accomack Co, VA.² He married Henrietta Lewis on 1 November 1884 at Accomack Co, VA. They were married by Robert B. Beadles, a Methodist minister. John was age 21 and a mariner and Henrietta was age 17..¹ He married Fannie E.      Fannie Griffin was shown as having had 6 children with 5 living in the 1910 Census. Her death date is estimated based on her death when her son Carson was 10 years old. She was not listed with her husband and children in the 1920 Census and her youngest child, Della, was shown as born circa 1915. There are no dates on her tombstone. Kathryn (Drewer) Miles reported that she was a sister to her grandmother, Kate Griffin. Fannie was born in January 1872 at Norfolk, VA.² She was the daughter of Cornelius L. Griffin and Virginia A. Foster. She married John Augustus 'Gus' Martin on 9 November 1890 at Somerset Co, MD.³ Fannie was living after 1890 at Saxis, Acc Co, VA.      James Allen Martin, age 9 months, son of Mr. & Mrs. Carson Martin of Wilmington, DE, died 13 May 1934. He was survived by his parents and 1 brother, Gene Carson Martin and his grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Will Miles and Mr. John A. Martin (Pen. Ent., 19 May 1934). The funeral was conducted by Rev. Fulcher at the home of Fred Martin on 14 May, with burial in the Ellis Cemetery, Saxis (E.S. News, 1553). James was born in August 1933 at Wilmington, New Castle Co, DE.¹ He was the son of Carson Augustus Martin. James died on 13 May 1934 at Wilmington, New Castle Co, DE, at age 0.¹ His body was interred at Ellis Cem, Saxis, Acc Co, VA.²

     Grover was born circa 1922 at Saxis, Acc Co, VA. He was the son of Grover Cleveland Miles Sr. and Matilda 'Mattie' Young. He was christened on 12 July 1925 at Meth Ch, Saxis, Acc Co, VA.¹

     Carroll Lee Marshall Sr. drowned on 25 Mar 1925 when his boat, "Southland" was rammed in a storm in Tangier Sound by a Cambridge oyster schooner. His body was found in Cedar Straits on 8 May 1925 (5 weeks later) by Ralph Nelson of Jenkins Creek. R.E. Corbin was on board with him and also drowned (Pen. Ent., 30 May 1925). His heirs were his widow, Naomi Marshall, 28; Christina Marshall, 11; Carroll Marshall, 10; and Robert A. Marshall, 5 years old (Acc Will Book 21, p. 299). Carroll was born on 16 May 1895 at Accomack Co, VA.² He was the son of Robert A. Marshall and Bettie Washington Mister. He was listed as a resident in the census report in 1900 at Saxis, Acc Co, VA.³ He married Naomi Franklin Spence on 16 July 1913 at Somerset Co, MD.⁴ Carroll was living on 21 July 1917 at Saxis, Acc Co, VA, (Army Registration).⁵ Carroll died on 25 March 1925 at Tangier Sound, Acc Co, VA, at age 29.⁶ His body was interred at Ellis Cem, Saxis, Acc Co, VA.² Carroll's will was probated in 1926 at Accomack Co, VA.⁷

     Maxine Marshall, the infant daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Edgar Marhsall of Saxis died on 19 Mar and was burried in the Ellis Cem Saxis (Pen. Ent., 24 Mar 1950).      Herman was born on 11 November 1902 at Accomack Co, VA.² He was the son of James Thomas Martin and Mary W. Stant.      Mrs. Sadie Marshall Martin, wife of Herman Martin, died at Saxis on 22 May 1956, aged 44 years. She was the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Edward Evans Sr., born at Tylerton, MD. She lived at Saxis for the past 25 years. Survivors were listed, including her mother, Mrs. Edward Evans Sr. and a brother, Edward Evans, both of Baltimore, and 4 unnamed sisters (Pen. Ent., 24 May 1956). Another obituary listed her as the daughter of Peter Marshall of Tylerton. Since her middle name in the Pen. Ent. obituary was Marshall, it is assumed that she was the daughter of Peter Marshall and that her mother married a second time to Edward Evans Sr. Sadie was born on 5 June 1911 at Tylerton, Smith Island, Som Co, MD.² She was the daughter of Peter J. Marshall and Irene Phebe Hall. She married (1h|o S.R. Marshall) (-----) circa 1930.³ Sadie was living after 1931 at Saxis, Acc Co, VA.² She married Herman John Martin on 7 July 1934 at Crisfield, Som Co, MD.⁴ Sadie died on 22 May 1956 at Saxis, Acc Co, VA, at age 44.² Her body was interred at Ellis Cem, Saxis, Acc Co, VA.⁵
