In his will of 1 Apr 1847 James Wessells Sr. named: sons Thomas, James H. and William; daughters Elizabeth Riggs and Patsey Ewell; and executor Littleton A. Hinman. Witnesses were Samuel Andrews and Samuel Silverthorn. Hinman refused to qualify for probate and Henry Ewell qualified with George H. Ewell and John D. Parkes securities (Acc Wills 1846-1882, p. 108). Since there were no James Wessells' listed in the 1850 Acc Census, James must have died circa 1847-49, but his will was not probated until 26 May 1851, which is an unusual delay. A James Wessells' estate was administered to Samuel Andrews on 30 Mar 1857 with George Bloxom (s/o J.) and David Taylor securities (Acc Orders 1854-1857, p. 573). Since a Samuel Andrews was also a witness to James Wessells' will in 1847, this is assumed to be the same James Wessells. James was born circa 1780 at Accomack Co, VA. He was the son of James Wessells Sr. and Patience Young. He married Polly Onions on 13 December 1803 at Accomack Co, VA. William Onions was the security on the M.L.B. of James Wessells and Polly Onions..2 James died in 1851 at Accomack Co, VA.3 James's will was probated on 26 May 1851 at Accomack Co, VA.3
