     He was called Walter Vessells, son of William Vessels in his father William's will of 1802. He first appeared as a head of household in the 1820 Census as Walter Vessells, age 26-45 (45), with a wife, age 26-45 (Polly, 34), 1 male 10-16 (Henry, 13), 2 males under 10 (Colmore, 9 and Solomon, 3), 3 females 0-10 (Sarah, 11, Elizabeth, 6, and Anne 3), and 7 slaves. Walter Wessels Sen, age 50-60 (55), was listed as a head of an 1830 household with a wife, age 40-50 (Polly, 44), 1 male 20-30 (Henry L., 23), 1 male 15-20 (Colmore, 19), 1 male under 5 (John Wm. Custis, 1), 2 females 15-20 (Sarah, 21 and Elizabeth, 16), 1 female 10-15 (Anne, 13), and 7 slaves. Walter was born circa 1775 at Accomack Co, VA.2 He was the son of William Wessells Sr. and Egnatia 'Nasha' (-----). He married Mary 'Polly' Boston on 4 February 1807 at Accomack Co, VA. William Ailworth was the security on the M.L.B. of Walter Wessells and Mary Boston..3,4 He was listed as a resident in the census report in 1830 at Accomack Parish, Acc Co, VA.2 He made a will on 16 October 1833 at Accomack Co, VA. He named sons: Colmore (land near John Drummond and James Northam), Henry, and William Custis Wessells (Messongo Creek land); and daughters: Elizabeth and Anne Wessells. He also specified: "If the said Wm. Custis Wessells dieing without lawful heirs of his body for Colmore Wessells for [to] have [negro] Samuel and Henry Wessells for to have one third and Elizabeth Wessells one third and Anne Wessells my daughters one third of the balance." Witnesses were Hny. Fletcher, Colmore S. Bird, and Custis W. Bird. In the probation protion Walter is called "Senr" and in the seal. Since no executor was named, on the oath of Polly Wessells (assumed to be the wife) and Henry Wessells who took the oath prescribed by law, and together with William Nock, John P. Drummond and Custis W. Bird securities thereto entered into a bond and letters of administration were granted to them. [WHAT ABOUT POLLY FROM PRAYER BOOK? DIED YOUNG OR HH#694 IN 1850 CENSUS? NO MENTIONED IN FATHER'S WILL!].5 Walter died on 30 March 1837 at Accomack Co, VA.6 Walter's will was probated on 29 May 1837 at Accomack Co, VA.7

     William Wessells Senr's will, written 12 Dec 1841, named a wife Sally Wessells as the executor and a friend William Taylor of Teackle. Witnesses were Littleton A. Hinman, John Taylor of C. and Teackle Taylor. It is odd that neither William Wessells nor his wife Sally named any children nor grand children in their wills. William was born circa 1774 at Accomack Co, VA.2 He was the son of James Wessells Sr. and Patience Young. He married Sally Killmon on 30 December 1799 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown only as William Vessels and she as Sally Killmon. No other information was given..3,4 William's will was probated on 25 April 1842 at Accomack Co, VA.5 William died in 1842 at Messongo, Acc Co, VA.5

Gaskins circa 1882.1,3 John died on 30 May 1936 at Gaskins Farm, Holden Cr, Acc Co, VA, at age 77.1 His body was interred at Downing's Cem, Oak Hall, Acc Co, VA.4 Conflicting evidence states that he died on 2 June 1936 at Grotons, Acc Co, VA.5

Parks); to Tekle Taylor Senr. The executor was Burwell B. Ewell. Witnesses were Ephraim Wessells and John Parks Sr. (Acc Co Wills, 1846-1882, p. 342). Her relationship to those named was not specified.. Sally's will was probated on 30 June 1862 at Accomack Co, VA.      Robert was born circa 1750 at Accomack Co, VA. He was the son of Robert Bayly Sr. and Mary Massey. He married Nancy (-----) circa 1775.2,3 Robert was a member of the armed forces serving at the Revolution. On 29 May 1832 it was certified that Elijah Bayly, Molly Bayly, John Bayly and Betsy Bayly are the only heirs at Law of Robert Bayly a seaman in the Virginia State Navy in the Revolutionary War. On 29 May 1834 it was certified that Elijah Bayly son of Robert Bayly who was a seaman in the Virginia State Navy in the Revolutionary War is dead. On 25 Jul 1835 it was certified that Hetty Trader, Robert Bayly, Henny Bayly, Nancy Bayly, Polly Bayly and Betsy Bayly are the only heirs at law of Robert Bayly who was a seaman in the Virginia State Navy in the Revolutionary War. On 31 Oct 1836 it was certified that Robert Bayly is the grandson and only heir at Law of Robert Bayly, a seaman in the Virginia State Navy in the Revolutionary War. On 28 Feb 1853 it was certified that Hetty Trader one of the heirs of Robert Bayly is now the wife of Henry Davis. Robert and Henry (probably Henny) Bayly are still living, Polly is dead and intestate and without issue, Betsy Bayly and Betsy Wessells are still living. On 29 Jan 1855 it was certified that Nancy Bayly, widow of Robert Bayly, a reputed soldier in the Revolutionary War, died in August 1846, and that Elizabeth Wessells is her only living child..4 Robert sold land on 10 December 1808 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that Robert Bayly and wife Nancy sold Frank Jenkins 9 acres of land on Messongo Road for 22 pounds. Witnesses were Bennet Mason, James Duncan and Sarah Fisher..5 Robert sold land on 23 January 1812 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that Robert Bayly of Robert sold John Wharton, a mortgage for $59.57. The land had been purchased of Henry Thornton as was called Chesnut Hill. It was southwest of Wallops Road, near the land of Wm. T. Matthews Jr, where Robert Bayly now lives..6 He made a will on 21 March 1815 at Accomack Co, VA. To son John Bayly 20 acres of land adjoining Nanny Small, Frank Jenkins & Elijah Lucas. To son James Bayly 12 acres of land adjoining Henry Trader & Nanny Small. To son Elijah Bayly all the remaining land during his life & then to his son Robert Bayly with him paying my daughter Betsy Bayly $50 within five years of my death. Son James Bayly & Southey Northam Extrs. Witt: Bennett Mason, Edmund Duncan & Bennett M. Bird..7 Robert died in May 1815.7 Robert's will was probated on 29 May 1815 at Accomack Co, VA. Edmund Duncan & Custis Northam of William were the securities..7 Robert estate was settled on 1 April 1817 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that his settlement papers were recorded. His brothers John and James and wife Nancy Bayly were among the buyers at his estate sale, which took place on 11 Aug 1815. Also named in his settlement were Thomas N. Bayly and Zadock Bayly..8
