     George was living at Florida. In 1900 George W. Marshall, age 37 and an oysterman, was the head of household #299 in Abington Dist, Gloucester Co, VA. Living with him were: his wife Matilda, age 32 who had given birth to 5 children with only 3 living; a daughter Ruby L., age 9; a son George H., age 7; and a son John H., age 5. According to The Daily Press of Newport News - Hampton, VA, Sunday, 20 Feb 1966, George W. (Washington) Marshall built the schooner named the Ruby and Bessie in 1902, which was owned by his father S.K. Marshall, and the sloop Charles M. Kelly, built on the banks of the Severn River, Cloucester Co, VA, in 1892. The sloop, 74 feet in length, is said to have been the largest sloop-rigged craft ever built in the Chesapeake Bay. He spent almost two years building the Kelly without assistance. George was employed at as a Boat builder.
