     Staten F. Byrd was made postmaster of Cattail Post Office on 3 Jul 1893. He was postmaster there in 1899, when the name was changed to Poulson. His second wife Polly (Poulson) Byrd became postmistress at Poulson on 5 Sep 1922 (Acc Loose Papers, Roll 130). Staton was employed at as a Sailor/Captain. Staton was born on 19 November 1857 at Accomack Co, VA.2 He was the son of Parker Byrd and Mary Ann Trader. He was listed as a resident in the census report in 1860 at Accomack Parish, Acc Co, VA.3 He married Clara J. Lucas on 27 December 1882 at Accomack Co, VA.4 He married Polly D.      In his will, signed 8 Jan 1913, Major J. Byrd of Mearsville, Acc Co, named a wife Jane Byrd; 5 brothers: A.W., J.D., Teackle L., Staton F., and Levin J. Byrd; a nephew Roy P. Byrd; and a cousin Margaret F. Trader. He bound Jane, Teackle L. and Levin J. Byrd to keep his slave, Sarah Dowing (col) of Metomkin, VA comfortable during life and at death a decent burial and never let her die in the home of the indigent. Executors were Jane Byrd and Teackle L. Byrd. Witnesses were John T. Lewis and Nathaniel F. Taylor. At probate both Jane and Teackle relinquished their right to probate to Staton F. Byrd. Sureties on the bond for probate were D. Frank White and Roy D. White (Acc Co Wills, 1920-28, p. 36). Conflicting evidence states that Major was born on 3 August 1867 at Mearsville, Acc Co, VA.2 Major was born on 31 August 1867 at Accomack Co, VA.3 He was the son of Parker Byrd and Mary Ann Trader. He married Jane (-----) circa 1890.4 Major died on 3 July 1921 at Mearsville, Acc Co, VA, at age 53.5 His body was interred at Byrd Cem, Mearsville, Acc Co, VA.2 Major's will was probated on 9 July 1921 at Accomack Co, VA.6
