She was the daughter of the late Thomas & Polly Marshall Spence, born at Smith's Island, MD. Survivors were listed (Pen. Ent., 5 Mar 1953). Conflicting evidence states that Missouri was born in December 1876 at Accomack Co, VA.² Missouri was born in 1881 at Smith Island, Som Co, MD.³ She was the daughter of Thomas W. Spence and Mary Elizabeth 'Polly' Marshall. She married Albert T. The 1870 census put his birth at 1844. The 1900 census put his birth at 1843..² He was the son of Elijah Spence Sr. and Elizabeth S. 'Betsy' Evans. Thomas was listed with his mother in the census of in 1860 at St. George Parish, Acc Co, VA. He was shown as Thomas Spence, age 14, living in HH#6 with his mother Elizt. and step-father, Daniel Kelly..³ He married Mary Elizabeth 'Polly' Marshall on 29 November 1864 at Accomack Co, VA. Thomas Spence, aged 97 years (he was really about 86), died at the home of his son Lewis Spence at Saxis (the exact date was not given). His mother lived to 114 years.      Paige I. Wessells of Hallwood was killed by a train in West Chester, PA, at age 30, survivors were listed (Pen. Ent., 9 Oct 1942). Paige was born on 1 July 1912 at Parksley, Acc Co, VA.¹ He was the son of Ray Washington Wessells Sr. and Margaret May Groton.      Mrs. Sarah A. (Miles) Evans, widow of the late William L. Evans, died at Saxis on 8 Oct 1939, aged 79 years, survivors were listed (Pen. Ent., 13 Oct 1939). Sarah was born on 16 July 1860 at Saxis, Acc Co, VA.¹ She was the daughter of Jesse Thomas Miles I and Matilda A. Spence. Could not find George O. & wife Elizabeth in 1860 Acc Co Census. Look in MD records. George was born in 1837 at Tangier Island, Acc Co, VA. The 1850 census puts his birth at 1832..^2,3 He was the son of Richard Evans and Grace 'Gracy' Marshall. George was listed with his father in the census of in 1850 at Tangier Island, Acc Co, VA. He was shown as Geo. Evans, an 18 year old sailor in HH#267 headed by Rich'd Evans, age 50..² He married Elizabeth Ann Turlington circa 1851.⁴ He was listed as a resident in the census report in 1860 at Tangier Island, Acc Co, VA. Mr. Stephen Corbin of Saxis, VA, died at his home, Saturday, 10 Nov 1923, aged 70 years, interment was at the Miles Cem, 12 Nov. He was survived by his widow, one daughter, Mrs. E.T. Noah was born on 24 January 1864 at Saxis, Acc Co, VA.² He was the son of Jesse Thomas Miles I and Matilda A. Spence.      Mrs. Matilda Jerm of Atlantic City, NJ, was at Saxis last week to attend her sister's funeral, Miss Della Miles. Her mother, Mrs. Susan Miles, accompanied her home (Acc News, 18 May 1917). Conflicting evidence states that Matilda was born on 18 September 1870 at Saxis, Acc Co, VA.² Matilda was born in October 1870 at Saxis, Acc Co, VA.¹ She was the daughter of Jesse Thomas Miles I and Susan E. Wessells.      According to the Acc Co Register of Death, John D. Marshall, son of W.T. and E., died 14 May 1891, at age 23, putting his birth at 1868. Miles, the family bible shows "Seriena F.", in 1880 it was "Serena," in 1900 "Serinia," in 1910 "Serina," in 1920 "Lennie" and her tombstone shows "Rennie L." Mrs. Rennie Miles Lewis, widow of Zadoc Lewis, of Saxis, died at the Northampton Hospital on 14 Jun 1962, aged 91 years. She was the daughter of the late Jesse and Susan Miles, born and reared at Saxis. She was buried in the Miles Cemetery. Survivors were listed (Pen. Ent., 21 Jun 1962). She was evidently moved to the J.W. Taylor Cemetery at a later date. Seriena was born in March 1873 at Saxis, Acc Co, VA.¹ She was the daughter of Jesse Thomas Miles I and Susan E. Wessells. Conflicting evidence states that Seriena was born on 7 May 1873.² She was listed as a resident in the census report in 1880 at Saxis, Acc Co, VA.³ She married Zadock W. Lewis on 5 April 1893 at Accomack Co, VA. They were married by R.B. Scott, a Methodist minister. 'Rennie' Miles on 5 April 1893 at Accomack Co, VA. They were married by R.B. Scott, a Methodist minister. Zadock was age 24 and a widowed oysterman and Rennie was age 19..⁵ Zadock died on 15 February 1934 at Saxis, Acc Co, VA, at age 68.      In addition to the two birth dates shown above, the 1900 Census, showed Cornelius "Neely" Miles' birth as May 1877. His common name was Neely. Conflicting evidence states that Cornelius was born on 15 September 1875.² Cornelius was born on 10 August 1876 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ He was the son of Jesse Thomas Miles I and Susan E. Wessells. Cornelius was on the in 1898 roll of the at Meth Ch, Saxis, Acc Co, VA.³ He married Mary Alice Marshall on 9 April 1899 at Somerset Co, MD.⁴ He was listed as a resident in the census report on 25 June 1900 at Saxis, Acc Co, VA.⁵ Cornelius died on 22 August 1907 at age 31.² His body was interred at Miles North Cem, Saxis, Acc Co, VA.⁶
