Thomas Davis made an affidavit in the Admiralty Court, London, 1639, reciting that he was "a merchant of Chuckatuck in Virginia, aged 26 years.".¹ He was the son of Capt. James (1) Davis and Rachell (-----). Thomas patented land on 6 March 1634. It was on this date that Thomas Davis received a patent for 300 acres abutting east upon Warwicksqueicke Creek about two miles from its mouth, in which he was described as a planter of Warwicksqueick and son and heir apparent to James Davis, Gentlemen, late of Henrico in Virginia, deceased, of which 100 acres was due in right of his father, an Ancient Planter, and another 100 acres in right of Rachell Davis, mother of Thomas, who was also an Ancient Planter..¹ Thomas sold land on 13 July 1636 at Nansemond Co, VA. It was on this date that Thomas Davis sold 50 acres of the 300 acre tract to Ambrose Meador and John White and on 23 Sep 1648 sold 200 acres of the same to John Moone, the consideration for the latter being 2,000 pounds of tobacco and the deed reciting that Thomas Davis was "of Nansemond.".² Thomas died on 20 September 1683 at Nansemond Co, VA. It was on this date that James Davis patented 141 acres in Nansemond County "beginning up Chuckatuck Creeke ... by or nigh a great marked white oak, the dividing tree betwixt him and his brother Thomas Davis ... the said land being 1/3 part of the land which his father Major Thomas Davis dyed seized of and by his will devised to said James in fee ...".²

It was on this date that Thomas Davis had settled in Somerset Co, MD when he patented 450 acres called "Davis's Choice" on the south side of Back Creek of Manokin River adjoining the land of Philip Barry..¹ Thomas died on 26 October 1694 at Nansemond Co, VA. He had probably died by this date when Elizabeth Davis patented 550 acres in Nansemond which escheated from Thomas Davis, deceased..²

It was on this date that William Davis was in Somerset Co, MD, when 300 acres called "Davis's Conquest" which was adjoining land of Thomas Davis was surveyed for him on the south side of Back Creek, although he did not secure a patent for this land until 1 Mar 1672/3..² He married Anne Hopper in August 1667 at Somerset Co, MD.² William died on 24 November 1684 at Somerset Co, MD.²
