James E. Marks Sr.

     Capt. James E. Marks was murdered by his crew on the sloop "Mary Inez." The boat was found adrift off Gwynn's Island. There appeared to be a struggle. The crew was two negros. The Norfolk Police are looking for the suspects (Pen. Ent., 5 Dec 1963 - 50 years ago). James was born circa 1860. He married Ellen Lee Corbin on 10 August 1881.1 James died in December 1913 at Gwynn's Island.2
