     John was born circa 1730. He was the son of Robert Nairne and Jannet Watts. He made a will on 24 March 1771 at Worcester Co, MD. In his will of this date, John Nairne named Robert, Thomas and William Allen Marshall, sons of Esme Marshall; and also sister Mary Marshall's children..¹ John died in December 1771.¹ John's will was probated on 11 December 1771 at Worcester Co, MD.¹

     Robert was born circa 1750 at Worcester Co, MD. He was the son of Esme Marshall and Mary Nairne. Robert was named in his uncle's will on 24 March 1771 at Worcester Co, MD. In his will of this date, John Nairne named Robert, Thomas and William Allen Marshall, sons of Esme Marshall; and also sister Mary Marshall's children..¹ He married Mary 'Polly' Whittington circa 1778.¹ He married Esther Fountain Hall on 11 July 1803 at Somerset Co, MD. They were shown only as Robert Marshall and Esther Hall..² Robert died in 1814 at Somerset Co, MD.³

     William was born on 28 March 1759 at Worcester Co, MD.¹ He was the son of Esme Marshall and Mary Nairne. William was named in his uncle's will on 24 March 1771 at Worcester Co, MD. In his will of this date, John Nairne named Robert, Thomas and William Allen Marshall, sons of Esme Marshall; and also sister Mary Marshall's children..¹ He married Dolly Bishop on 2 August 1803 at Worcester Co, MD. They were shown as William Marshall and Dolly Bishop.

     Patience was born circa 1747 at Worcester Co, MD. She was the daughter of Esme Marshall and Mary Nairne. She married William Cottman Waller circa 1764. There is no definitive proof that William Cottman Waller's wife was the daughter of Esme Marshall, other then he named a son Esme Marshall Waller.

     William was born on 14 October 1743 at Somerset Co, MD.¹ He was the son of Richard Waller and Ann Cottman. He married Patience Marshall circa 1764. There is no definitive proof that William Cottman Waller's wife was the daughter of Esme Marshall, other then he named a son Esme Marshall Waller.

     No other information has been found to confirm he was Esme's son. No other George's in this family can be identified as old enough or in Worchester County to have served in this capacity. It is believed that this George is the father of George Esme Marshall. No further information on George or George Esme Marshall has been found.
George was born circa 1745 at Worcester Co, MD. He was the son of Esme Marshall and Mary Nairne. George served in the Revolutionary War in in 1778 at Worcester Co, MD. George Marshall served as sergeant, Worcester Militia, Wicomico Battn., Capt. Isaac Layfield's Company 15 Jul 1780. He took the Oath of Allegiance in Worcester Co, MD in 1778..² George appears on the list of tithables at Worcester Co, MD, for in 1783. Thomas Marshall was surety for George Marshall at Pitts Creek, Worcester County on the 1783 Tax List. (Maryland State Archives 1783 Tax List) A notation is shown on the 1783 tax list compiled by Ruth Dryden saying "young man Thomas Marshall Sec.".³ George died after 1788. It was on this date that George Marshall settle the estate of his father Esme Marshall..¹

     Mary was born circa 1750. She was the daughter of Southy (35) Whittington and Esther Nairne. She married Robert Henry Marshall circa 1778.² Mary died after 9 May 1803 at Somerset Co, MD.¹

     Esther was born circa 1750. She married Robert Henry Marshall on 11 July 1803 at Somerset Co, MD. They were shown only as Robert Marshall and Esther Hall..¹ Esther died in 1815 at Somerset Co, MD.²

     Elizabeth was born circa 1753 at Worcester Co, MD. She was the daughter of Esme Marshall and Mary Nairne. She married Benjamin Purnell circa 1766.²

     Dolly was born circa 1780. She was the daughter of Charles Bishop and Zipporah (-----). She married William Allen Marshall on 2 August 1803 at Worcester Co, MD. They were shown as William Marshall and Dolly Bishop.

     Isme was born circa 1764 at Worcester Co, MD. He was the son of Esme Marshall and Mary Brittingham. Isme was listed as a head of household in the census of in 1810 at Worcester Co, MD. What appears to read Isme or Ismel Marshall is found in the 1810 census of Worcester Co, MD. It is not known if this is, indeed, the given name or if he is a son of Esme..²

     Ann was born circa 1743 at Northampton Co, VA. She was the daughter of Jonathan Tilney and Sarah Marshall. Ann died before 1760.

     Thomas was born circa 1752 at Northampton Co, VA. He was the son of Robert James and Sarah Marshall. He married Elizabeth Dunton on 13 December 1774 at Northampton Co, VA. Wm. Jacob was the security on the M.L.B. of Thomas James and Elizabeth Dunton, daughter of and orphan of Wm. Dunton. Rickards Dunton Jr. witness..² Thomas died on 16 March 1818 at Northampton Co, VA.³

     Robert was born circa 1754 at Northampton Co, VA. He was the son of Robert James and Sarah Marshall. Robert died before 1833.²

     Levin was born circa 1756. He was the son of Maj. Thomas John Marshall and Sarah Darby. Levin was named in his father's will on 13 March 1773 at Dorchester Co, MD.¹ He married Mary Ennalls Hooper on 13 December 1790 at Dorchester Co, MD.² He married Margaret Vickers Thomas circa 1803.² Levin died in 1822 at Dorchester Co, MD.

     Henry was born circa 1761 at Northampton Co, VA.² He was the son of Maj. Thomas John Marshall and Sarah Darby. Henry was named in his father's will on 13 March 1773 at Dorchester Co, MD.³ He married Joan Mitchell on 5 September 1786 at Dorchester Co, MD.² He married Eve Rothrock on 14 April 1798 at Baltimore, MD.² Henry died in 1802.¹

     The 1783 tax list of Dorchester Co. MD p. 10 shows Theophilus Marshall, agent for James on land in Middle Distrist. James is shown on p. 9 taxed in Middle District. Inventory in 1783 for a James Marshall, Caroline Co. (Vern Skinner) A James Marshall m. 1799 Nancy Jones. A James Marshall m. 1817 Nancy Davis. 1800 census of Dorchester shows a James, p. 9, b. 1774-1784. If the age is correct, this James is too young to be son of Thomas John Marshall.

     Sarah was born circa 1759. She was the daughter of Maj. Thomas John Marshall and Sarah Darby. Sarah was named in her father's will on 13 March 1773 at Dorchester Co, MD.² She married Thomas Brereton on 26 February 1781. Notes of James H. Marshall: the marriage record describes her as the daughter of Mjr. Thomas Marshall of Northampton Co. (18th Century Virginia Newspapers by Robert K. Headley, Jr., 1987, p. 38). This marriage record sounds similar to one in the Dielman File at the Maryland Historical Society, and this latter record suggests Thomas John as Sarah or Sally's father. Thomas John did name a daughter, Sarah. The Breretons were justices of the peace in Somerset County, MD.
