     John was born circa 1765 at Somerset Co, MD. He was the son of John Swift and Elizabeth (193) Marshall. John died before 30 November 1836 at Somerset Co, MD.1 John was named as an heir on 30 November 1836 at Somerset Co, MD. He was shown as John Swift a son of Elizabeth Swift, who was a sister of Benjamin & John Marshall sailors in the Rev. War. That John Swift died intestate leaving the following children and no others, viz: John Swift, William Swift, Sally Swift, Peggy Swift and Nelly Swift ... all except Peggy Swift are now living that said Peggy Swift married Henry Ritcher and died leaving the following children viz Robert Rither and Eleanor Ritcher minors. That Sally Swift is now the wife of the aforesaid Thomas Lankford.1
