     John was born circa 1814 at Accomack Co, VA. He was the son of Shadrack (of Litt) Mears and Jemima Wescott. John died on 14 March 1831. It was on this date that Major Pitts, age 76, appeared in court regarding a Rev. War pension, and it was brought out that he had a niece Jemima Mears who had two daughters. So evidently her son John had died by this date..²

     Major was born circa 1744 at Accomack Co, VA. He was the son of John Mears and Sabrah (68) Armey Trader. Major witnessed a will on 29 December 1769 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that Major Meers witnessed the will of William Richardson. Littleton Meers and wife Elizabeth were named extrs. Richardson named a daughter Comfort Meers and a grandson Severn Mears. (NOTE: In order to witness the will, Major would have to have been at least age 21, putting his birth at or before 1748. He was possibly a brother of Littleton as he would have been too old to have been a son.).¹
