He was shown as an underage son James Mapp in the will of Littleton Mapp..1 He married Clara Wooten circa 1810.2 He married Mary 'Polly' Wright circa 1831.2 James died on 14 June 1849 at Hancock Co, GA, at age 61.2 His body was interred at White Plains, Hancock Co, GA.2

     John was born on 1 June 1759 at Cumberland Co, VA. He was the son of Robert Smith and Sarah (-----). John served in the Revolutionary War in in 1776 at North Carolina. Enlisted in the Revolutionary War in Surry County, North Carolina in 1776. He hired a sub to take his place because his mother was a widow and he was the only son at home. In 1784 he went to Virginia for 1 & 1/2 years then returned to North Carolina. In 1786 he went to Spartanburg, South Carolina and in 1789 he went to West Tennessee and then to Green County, Georgia. In 1798 he went to Jackson County which is now Clarke County, Georgia.
.1 He married Mary 'Polly' Mapp on 2 February 1789 at Spartanburg, SC.1 John bought land on 7 December 1793 at Greene Co, GA. It was on this date that John Smith bought from Benjamin Posey, both of Greene County, land on Shoulderbone Creek, adjoining Joseph Young. Witt: Rueben Smith, Robert Howson Mapp, Thomas Baldwin J.P..2 John died on 18 July 1838 at Clarke Co, GA, at age 79.

It was on this date that Rueben Smith bought 287 1/2 acres of land from Joseph Spradling adjoining Boldens line. Wit: David Love & J.P. Mapp. Rueben got a headright in Greene County for 100 acres in 1805. He later bought more land in Greene County in 1808..2 Rueben died on 14 February 1836 at Greene Co, GA, at age 79. His body was interred at Credille Cem, Greene Co, GA. Rueben's will was probated on 19 May 1836 at Greene Co, GA. My eight children are to keep the negroes I gave them. To my wife Elizabeth Smith land where I now live & negroes, Humphra, Elijah, George, Caroline, Rhoda, & her children, a whell carriage, gig, two good carriages, horses, livestock, & household & kitchen furniture. The residue to be equally divided between my eight children: Polly Credille, Sally Credille, John Smith, William smith, Rhoda Bell, Senia Credille, Nancy L. Doss & Susannah, Snow..3
