According to Rev. John W.A. Elliott's Ledger Book, this Thomas Elliott was one of two cousins named Thomas Elliott who were born in England. His father died young and left him to be raised by his brother John Elliott, who also had a son Thomas Elliott of about the same age. In order to distinguish between the two Thomas Elliotts, Rev. Elliott referred to the orphan as Thomas, farmer, who setted in Onley, Acc Co, VA and to his cousin as Thomas, mechanic, who settled near Wachapreague. Rev. Elliott also shows his ancestors in England as follows: Thomas Elliott, the immigrant farmer was the son of an unnamed brother of John Elliott, who was the son of Charles Elliott, who was the son of William Elliott, who was the son of Thomas Elliott, who was the son of John Elliott, who was the son of William Elliott, who was the son of Charles Elliott, who was a minister in the Church of England and his son John Elliott was of high position, holding large estates, back to the 15th century. Thomas was born circa 1708 at England. He was the son of (b|o_John) Elliott (England). He married Elizabeth (-----) Teackle? circa 1745. According to Whitelaw, in 1754 Thomas Elliott, son of Robert, and his wife Elizabeth sold land to Joseph Jefferies. (NOTE: Whitelaw was evidently assuming that Robert Elliott had a son Thomas, as the deeds themselves do not show Thomas as a son of Robert. They only show Thomas with a wife Elizabeth, has she signs over her dower rights when Thomas sells the land. Robert Elliott did not name a son Thomas in his will, but instead named only "Wife Mary Elliott sole legatee & Exec.").2 Thomas witnessed a will on 28 January 1750 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that Thomas Elliott, Francis Savage & Thomas Custis witnessed the will of William Lingo..3 He made a will on 28 October 1775 at Accomack Co, VA. To son John Elliot my land & plantation containing 70 acres, he to maintain my daughter Peggy Elliot till she arrives to the age ot 18. Daughters Esther & Peggy Elliot to have their homes in the house till they marry. 9 children, Leah, Betty, Thomas, Levinah, Leavin, William, Teackle, Easther & Peggy Elliot residual legatees. Son in law Goldin Fox & Major Ironmonger Exrs. Witt: Major Ironmonger, Jenny Haden, Margaret Doe..4 Thomas died in August 1777.4 Thomas's will was probated on 26 August 1777 at Accomack Co, VA.4

Robert was born in 1672 at Accomack Co, VA. Robert would have been the 1 tithable for his father John Elliott from 1688 to 1695. Tithables were usually assigned to males over the age of 16 years. Therefore Robert was evidently at least age 16 in 1688, puting his birth at 1672 or before..2 He was the son of Great John Elliott.
