After the deaths of William and Mary Thornton, in 1845 a William Thornton sold his 1/4 interest in 94 acres to Littleton A. Hinman, and the next year Hinman bought the 3/4 interest of Nancy Thornton at public auction. This was part of Whitelaw's tract A111 on Guilford Creek..2 William was listed as a head of household in the census of in 1800 at Accomack Parish, Acc Co, VA.
