     Jacob was born in 1764 at Accomack Co, VA.2 He was the son of (-----) Sparrow and Susannah Byrd. Jacob served in the Revolutionary War in in 1780 at Accomack Co, VA. In a statement of 28 Aug 1832, Jacob Sparrow, age about 68, stated that he was enrolled in 1780; served in the militia of Accomack Co., from the time he was 16 years of age until he was free from duty by reason of his age. He served during the Rev. War under Capt. Jesse Dickerson and Lieut. Thomas Sandford of the militia. Generally about 15-20 of each company kept guard at a time. he kept guard on Pocomoke River at Chincoteague and at Col. Cropper's braracks; he believed he served two years. He was born in 1764; always lived where he now lives. He enrolled in 1780 and subject to be called out at a moment's warning. He was acquainted with Col. Cropper, Major Poulson, Capt. Gilchrist and Col. Levin Joynes..2,3 Jacob was named in his mother's will on 23 August 1805 at Accomack Co, VA.4 He married Mary 'Molly' Hall on 24 February 1806 at Accomack Co, VA.
