Mr. Darius Thomas Hall, a retired farmer and waterman, fromer a resident of Jenkins Bridge, died on 24 Apr 1960, aged 83 years. He was the son of Asa and Mary Hall. Survivors were listed (Pen. According to Nottingham's Wills and Administrations, p386, which refers to Acc Co Wills, 1788-1794, p386, John Shay's will, written 23 Sep 1788 and probated 29 June 1790, specified: To grandson John Shay Hall 83 acres where I now live, to daughter Mary Hall negroes for life, reversion to my grandaughters Tabitha and Mary Hall, to granddaughter Margaret Hall, to friend Isaac Warner, Isaac Warner Executor, Witt: John Howard, William S. Christopher, Mary Howard. John Shay Hall is also mentioned in Whitelaw, p1258, in describing the ownership of tract A147: 1742 Daniel Shae gave 133 acres to his son John. 1769 John and Tabitha Shae gave 50 acres to Henry Hall who had married their daughter Mary (Molly). 1790 John Shay left the balance of his land to a grandson John Shay Hall. The village of Hallwood is on this land and takes its name from this Hall family. John was born circa 1730. He was the son of Daniel Shay.
