Joseph Drummond Turner, 95, husband of Thelma Phillips Turner and a resident of Onley, died at Shore Memorial Hospital, Nassawadox, on Thursday, April 9, 1998. Born in Locustville, Mr. Turner was the son of the late George T. Turner and Alice Drummond Turner. He was retired from the Coast Guard having served overseas at Guadalcanal during WWII and a member of Onley Baptist Church. Graveside services were held at Parksley Cemetery on Saturday, April 11, at 2:30 p.m. conducted by Rev. Charles Parks. Other than his wife, Mr. Turner is survived by two children, J.D. Turner of Chesconnessex and Allen Turner of Melfa; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren..2 His body was interred at Parksley Cem, Acc Co, VA.2
