     John Crockett was mentioned in the will of John West, written 1 Feb 1799 and probated 29 Oct 1799. John West left his son Anthony West all his right to Tangier Island and Anthony was to give 100 acres to John Crockett, and should he refuse he left the whole of the Island to be sold (Acc Co Wills, 1798-1800, p. 258). In August 1807, John Crockett and Joshua Thomas where out fishing together, when a group of three vessels, each crowded with people, engaged them to pilot them into Pungoteague Creek to attend a camp meeting (Parsons of the Island, p. 75).      An infant child (assumed to be Netty M. Evans) of George O. and Eliza Evans died on 15 Sep 1896 on Sykes (Pen. Ent., 26 Sep 1896). Netty was born before 5 November 1893 at Accomack Co, VA. She was christened on 5 November 1893 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ She was the daughter of George Oliver 'Bung' Evans and Elizabeth Anna Crockett. Netty died on 15 September 1896 at Saxis, Acc Co, VA.²

     James Harvey Hoffman, son of Hejay (?) Hoffman, whose parents came from Germany and settled in Trenton, NJ, came to Hacks Neck from Smith Island, MD, and in 1856 purchased from George S. Rogers a tract of 127 acres in Hacks Neck (Hacks Neck & Its People, p. 146). For more on this family see this reference. James was born circa 1810 at Trenton, NJ.^1,2 He was the son of James|Hejay(?) Hoffman. He married Sinah Evans circa 1830.³ James was listed as a head of household in the census of in 1850 at St. George Parish, Acc Co, VA. He was shown as Jams. Harvey the head of HH#1287, a 40 year old sailor, born in VA, with real estate valued at $500. Listed with him were the following Harveys: Siner, age 35; Jno., a 19 year old sailor; Griffin, a 25 year old sailor; and Polly, age 22. This was probably the southern tip of Smith Island which was in Virginia. (Note: It is not clear why he was listed using his middle name, instead of his surname of Hoffman. See Hacks Neck and Its People for more information on him.).² He was listed as a resident in the census report in 1850 at Dames Qtr Dist, Somerset Co, MD.⁴

     Robert was born circa 1778 at Accomack Co, VA.² He was the son of Maj. William Young (III) and Elizabeth 'Betty' Crippen. He married Rachel Rew on 22 January 1800 at Accomack Co, VA.³ Robert was named in his father's will on 26 February 1802 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as a son Robert Young in the will of William Young Sr..¹ Robert died in 1848.² His body was interred at Back Cem, Guilford Cr, Acc Co, VA. Mason Annis and George M. Moore Jr. report that Robert Young and his wife Rachel Rew Young are buried in unmarked graves in what they refer to as the "back cemetery" which is about 300 ft north of the Taylor Cemetery on Guildford Creek. They are buried in brick vaults on the southwest corner of the cemetery. The cemetery measures approximately 20 ft by 35 ft and has a 16 inch black walnut tree growing in the center of the cemetery..⁴

     Isaac Wessells is first listed in the 1810 Census as a head of household, age 16-26 (bc 1785-95), with a wife(?) age 26-45 (bc 1765-85), 2 other females under 10 (bc 1800-10) and one slave. In 1820 he is listed as 26-45 (bc 1775-95), with a wife of the same age, and 4 other females, 2 under 10 (bc 1810-20), and 2 10-16 (bc 1805-10) and 1 slave. In 1830 he is listed as 40-50 (bc 1780-90), with a wife of the same age, 3 other females, 1 10-15 (bc 1815-20), 1 15-20 (bc 1810-15) and 1 20-30 (bc 1800-10) and 4 slaves. In 1840 he is listed as Isaac Junior age 50-60 (bc 1780-90) and a wife of the same age with no children and 3 slaves. In his will of 10 Jun 1840 Isaac Wessels named: a wife Nancy Wessels; daughters Amy Wessels w/o Arthur F. Wessels, Polly Wessels w/o Richard Wessels, Ann Bundick w/o George Bundick s/o Wm., and Sally Young w/o Samuel Young; executor Arthur F. Wessels, son-in-law. Witnesses were John A. Bundick, Thomas Wessells s/o James, and George Russell s/o George. Securities for probate were William Taylor s/o Major, Richard Wessells and Ephraim Wessells s/o A (Acc Wills 1828-1846, p. 305). Isaac's children and the children of his deceased daughter Amey, w/o Arthur F. Wessells, are also named in Acc Land Causes, 1840-??, p. 160. Isaac was born circa 1785 at Accomack Co, VA.² He was the son of Ephraim Wessells Sr. and Amey (-----).
