     James Harvey Hoffman, son of Hejay (?) Hoffman, whose parents came from Germany and settled in Trenton, NJ, came to Hacks Neck from Smith Island, MD, and in 1856 purchased from George S. Rogers a tract of 127 acres in Hacks Neck (Hacks Neck & Its People, p. 146). For more on this family see this reference. James was born circa 1810 at Trenton, NJ.1,2 He was the son of James|Hejay(?) Hoffman. He married Sinah Evans circa 1830.3 James was listed as a head of household in the census of in 1850 at St. George Parish, Acc Co, VA. He was shown as Jams. Harvey the head of HH#1287, a 40 year old sailor, born in VA, with real estate valued at $500. Listed with him were the following Harveys: Siner, age 35; Jno., a 19 year old sailor; Griffin, a 25 year old sailor; and Polly, age 22. This was probably the southern tip of Smith Island which was in Virginia. (Note: It is not clear why he was listed using his middle name, instead of his surname of Hoffman. See Hacks Neck and Its People for more information on him.).2 He was listed as a resident in the census report in 1850 at Dames Qtr Dist, Somerset Co, MD.4

Moore Jr. report that Robert Young and his wife Rachel Rew Young are buried in unmarked graves in what they refer to as the "back cemetery" which is about 300 ft north of the Taylor Cemetery on Guildford Creek. They are buried in brick vaults on the southwest corner of the cemetery. The cemetery measures approximately 20 ft by 35 ft and has a 16 inch black walnut tree growing in the center of the cemetery..4
