The 1810 Census shows her as Comfort Miles, head of family. There were no free white males listed. Free white females included 1 under age 10, 1 between age 16 and 26 and 1 over age 45. Comfort is assumed to be the oldest, born before 1765. The 1820 Census does not list a Comfort Miles. However, the 1830 Census shows her again as Comfort Miles, head of family. There were no free white males listed. Free white females included only 1 between age 50 and 60, implying that Comfort was born 1770-80. The ranges of these three births: 1755-74, before 1765, and 1770-80 do not have a common overlay between them. Based on these dates, the best guess at her birth is circa 1768, which is consistent with her marriage to George Miles in 1790, when she would have been about age 22. Since she is not listed in the 1840 Census as a head of family and there were no free white females listed in any other Miles families matching her age, it is assumed that she died between 1830 and 1840. Therefore, her death is shown as circa 1835. Comfort was born circa 1768 at Accomack Co, VA.2,3 She was the daughter of Shadrack Taylor and (-----) Crippen. She married George Miles (I) on 11 January 1790 at Accomack Co, VA.4 Comfort was listed as a head of household in the census of in 1800 at Accomack Parish, Acc Co, VA. She was shown as Comfort Miles of Geo., a head of household, age 26-45. She is assumed to be the wife of the deceased George Miles. Listed with her were 2 males, age 0-10; 1 female, age 0-10 and 1 female, age 16-26. Being age 26-45 would put her birth 1755-1774..5 Comfort was named in her father's will on 8 August 1802 at Accomack Co, VA. She was shown as a daughter Comfort Miles in the will of Shadrack Taylor. He also left his son Staton Taylor all the land I bought of Henry Fletcher, called Mason land containing 100 acres on the condition that he shall not molest Comfort Miles during her single life in the quite possession of 10 acres on the west side adjoining the land of Jesse Duncan, with timber sufficient to build, repair & fuel, but make no waste of timber under penalty of £50..1 She was listed as a resident in the census report in 1810 at Accomack Parish, Acc Co, VA.6 She was listed as a resident in the census report in 1830 at Accomack Parish, Acc Co, VA.3 Comfort died circa 1835 at Accomack Co, VA.7
